About This Pub

Ah, the London Apprentice – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a hidden gem in Isleworth, with its roots going back to 1731 and those fabulous views over the River Thames. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely love the welcoming atmosphere, especially out on the terrace or in the beer garden on a sunny day. The food's a highlight too; think fresh, traditional pub fare with some seasonal specials that sound mouthwatering, and they've got options for all diets, which is always a plus when you're out with mates or the family. The staff come across as genuinely caring, like they're looking after you as if you were old friends, which really adds to the charm. But, to keep it real, it's not all perfect – a few have mentioned waits for food that drag on, even when the place is quiet, and sometimes dishes don't arrive as hot as you'd hope. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.2, it's clear the good far outweighs the bad, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area, perhaps before popping over to Syon Park. Just pop in with an easygoing attitude, and you're in for a proper nice time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The historic charm and stunning views of the River Thames make it a real treat for a relaxing day out.
  • They serve up some cracking food and beer, with options for everyone including vegan and vegetarian choices.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's family-friendly and dog-friendly, with a lovely beer garden that's perfect for warmer days.
  • Plenty of facilities like WiFi, a car park, and even spaces for functions, so it's versatile for different occasions.
Cons
  • Service can sometimes be a bit slow, even when it's not busy, which might leave you waiting longer than expected.
  • Food might not always arrive piping hot, as one experience showed it coming out lukewarm.
  • While the atmosphere is generally spot on, there could be occasional hiccups that don't quite live up to the beautiful setting.

Lovely pub with a nice view on the river Thames from the terrace. Great food, beer and kind personnel. Definitely recommend visiting for locals or before visiting Syon Park.

Incredible atmosphere and friendly staff. Got served by Elena and she made sure we were satisfied with our orders. Cared for us like for a member of family absolutely loved, would recommend to visit with friends especially on warm days.

We came here yesterday for lunch. It's such a beautiful place & setting but the food & service let it down for us. We ordered for just before 3pm & only after speaking to a member of staff our food came at 3:37pm which wasn't even hot. Bearing in mind the restaurant area was empty! We were told that it was because the chefs were dealing with a private buffet upstairs. If this was the case then maybe organise more staff/chefs because clearly this wasn't sprung on them. It's such a shame because it's such a lovely place!

We've been visiting on a weekend and it wasn't very busy at all. It's a truly beautiful pub in a historic building with a wonderful outdoor area on the river. The food was good, although my dish with haddock and beans was a bit spicy, and it was not mentioned on the menu. Other than that, it was tasting good. The service it was very laid back. Overall it is a wonderful pub and it is certainly worth a visit.
