About This Pub

Ah, the Local Hero in Leicester – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its warm vibe and promise of a good time. I have to say, the staff really shine here; they're so approachable and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates rather than just popping in for a pint. The food's a highlight too – think hearty burgers and steaks that pack a flavour punch, all at prices that won't break the bank, especially with those cheeky deals on shots and specials. It's spot on for sports fans, with live events like the Women's Euros creating a real buzz, and extras like the pool table add to the fun. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; I've heard a few tales of steaks arriving more well-done than asked for, or meals taking an eternity, which can take the edge off an otherwise enjoyable night. Still, with its family-friendly setup and solid overall feel, it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep expectations realistic and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is delicious with generous portions and excellent value, especially with those tempting deals on drinks and meals.
  • It's a brilliant spot for catching live sports like the Women's Euros or rugby tours, adding to the lively atmosphere.
  • They've got great facilities, including a pool table and family-friendly vibes, perfect for a relaxed evening out.
  • The menu offers a fun variety of pub classics, like chargrilled burgers and wings, that really hit the spot.
Cons
  • Some dishes don't always come out as ordered, like steaks that end up overcooked or not on the right plates.
  • Wait times for food can drag on a bit, which might put a damper on things if you're in a rush.
  • There are occasional service slip-ups, such as sauces that are overly peppery or meals that don't quite match expectations.
  • The consistency of the food quality varies, so it might not be a guaranteed winner every visit.
  • While it's generally affordable, a few niggles could leave you wishing for a smoother experience overall.

Absolutely loved our visit! George, the manager, was so welcoming and helpful—really made us feel at home. The food was fantastic, full of flavor and great portions. Service was quick and friendly, and everything was excellent value for money. Definitely one of the best pub experiences we’ve had. Highly recommend!

Ordered three steak skillets all medium they took 45 mins to arrive and when they did none of them were on skillets. All steaks were burnt and cooked very well done and the peppercorn sauces the we ordered extra tasted like they had an entire mill of pepper in them. All in all my partner couldn’t even eat hers so a waste of money we will Defoe not be returning there .

Food: The chefs need to work on their timing and some basics when it comes to skillet plates (wet onions on a hot plate whilst the steak is sizzling leads to water sitting on the skillet, the steak then is essentially boiling removing flavour from the meat) fix the basics and this becomes a non issue. Service: Excellent, the ladies in here work their ass off and still manage to keep a smile and be very helpful & attentive. Absolutely faultless. Atmosphere: Bit rowdy and some of the patrons here can be quite obnoxious, but that's not a slight on the staff or bar. They probably should keep them in check better.

Good customer service in a nice pub / restaurant. Great place where you can eat and watch live sports and grab a drink at the same time. Food is nice and presented well, also good prices. They have brill deals on food and drinks on certain days of the week. Shots from £1. Also has a pool table 🎱 Parking is free outside.
