About This Pub
Oh, what a gem The King's Head is – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its classic charm and that unmistakable whiff of real ale as soon as you step through the door. From what I've gathered from chats and visits, the beer selection is top drawer, with plenty of cask options that hit the spot without breaking the bank, making it a brilliant spot for anyone who appreciates a good pint. The staff are genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and quick with service, and the overall vibe is so welcoming, like you're popping round to a mate's for a drink. There's even a nice outdoor area for when the weather plays ball, and extras like a log fire and snacks add to the appeal. On the flip side, it does get heaving during big events, so you might find yourself out in the garden if you're with the family, and the odd detail, like festive decor, could feel a bit over the top for some. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in Leicester, as the pros far outweigh the little drawbacks, and you'll likely leave with a smile and a plan to return.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The selection of cask ales is absolutely spot on, with a dozen pumps offering a great range at reasonable prices – perfect for a proper pint lover.
-
It's got that warm, traditional pub vibe with cosy snugs, a log fire, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
-
Friendly staff and locals create a real community feel, and there are handy facilities like an outdoor area with a retractable roof, plus options for snacks and even accommodation.
Cons
-
It can get pretty packed during events like rugby matches, which might mean you're stuck outside if you've got little ones in tow.
-
Some folks have mentioned minor niggles, like overly festive decorations at times, which might not suit everyone's taste.

Was in before watching the rugby. So very busy. We had our daughter so only able to sit outside, it does have a retractable roof and sides, but fortunately not raining.
A great, traditional pub. Good selection if cask ales, good service by pleasant bar staff and landlord. Great atmosphere, welcoming locals, we'll be back
Good pub with real ales and nice snugs to sit in. Reasonable prices.
Well worth a visit 👍
Up at 5 and a 5-hour train trip to Leicester to watch "The Argyle " in Leicester today!! Really nice pub, plenty of real ales. And very good service. Met up with the "Midland cronies" and I had a couple of Black Horse Christmas ales, which were excellent. Could have done without the full Christmas music, though !! But hey ho I am a Grinch!!! We got stuffed, but who cares 🤔 😁. Still a cracking day out and we get to go back to sunny Plymouth 🌞
Quite splendid traditional pub in the centre of Leicester that offers a great range of cask ales (a dozen taps or more) at moderate prices. The pub is nicely decorated and comfy, and there's a small outside seating area in the back that even has its own TV. Nice community atmosphere, friendly and competent service. All round one of the best traditional pub options in the city.
