About This Pub
Ah, Ley Inn – it's one of those pubs that you stumble upon and think, 'This could be a new favourite.' From what I've gathered chatting about it, the grub is generally top-notch; imagine tucking into a piping hot roast or a proper lasagne that hits the spot after a long day. The staff can be absolute gems too, remembering your name and making you feel like a regular from the get-go, which is just lovely for building that community vibe. It's spot on for families or if you're out with the pooch, thanks to the outdoor area, and its location near Cuerden Valley Park means it's ideal for a relaxed afternoon. On the flip side, though, service isn't always reliable – some have had to wait forever for tables to be cleared or desserts to arrive, which can be a right nuisance when you're trying to enjoy your time. Plus, the food's taken a bit of a nosedive with the new menu, and ditching steak Thursdays has left things feeling a tad quiet. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a meal, but I'd say go in with realistic expectations and maybe check it's not one of those off days. If you're after a genuine, down-to-earth spot, give it a try – you might just have a brilliant time!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food at Ley Inn is absolutely spot on – think delicious roast dinners and hearty lasagne that leave you wanting more, perfect for a satisfying meal with mates.
-
Service can be brilliant, with staff like Hannah making you feel right at home by remembering your face and order, which really adds a personal touch.
-
It's got a lovely, welcoming atmosphere that's great for families or if you're popping in with the dog, especially with that outdoor seating option.
-
Being near Cuerden Valley Park makes it a handy spot for a post-walk pint or bite, and it's open every day from midday till late.
Cons
-
Service isn't always up to scratch; some folks have waited ages for plates to be cleared or even had to chase up missing desserts, which can put a dampener on the evening.
-
The food quality seems to have dipped a bit with the new summer menu – it's average at best now, and they've stopped doing steak Thursdays, which has made the place quieter than usual.
-
It can feel a tad inconsistent overall, with mixed experiences depending on when you visit, so you might not always get the full five-star treatment.

Cannot fault the Ley Inn. The food is always fantastic. Just had roast dinner and it was delicious. The service from Hannah is amazing. She remembers you which makes you feel a valued customer. Excellent!
I love this place, but the food has gone down hill some what. There's a new summer menu that looks great but the food is average at best. I noticed it was considerably quieter than usual, which probably had something to do with the fact that they have stopped doing steak Thursdays. Such a shame.
A lovely little, very old (with updated decor), established pub that we've visited often.
Today we opted to sit outside and dine as we had pet dogs with us.
I opted for the lasagne and my partner the steak pudding, both meals were lovely.
Not far from Cuerden Valley Park (also known as Cuerden Country Park), maybe a nice end to a long country walk.
Not overly impressed with the service we received tonight. Took over 15 minutes for our plates to be taken away even had to ask for them to be removed. We sat in the restaurant wasn’t busy only our table and another one in. Had to ask where one of the deserts were as they didn’t even bring it out. Felt like the staff couldn’t be bothered. Always have a good time here but tonight just wasn’t great.
First time coming here with family and all I can say is the food was absolutely delicious, piping hot and fresh! Even my children demolished it all and they are usually fussy the chocolate cake and icecream was delicious we will be back here again for sure, the atmosphere in there was brilliant and the staff were friendly
