About This Pub

Ah, Kings Oak in Birmingham – it's one of those neighbourhood spots that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From the reviews I've had a look at, the new owners have really stepped up, turning things around with tasty pints and a much friendlier atmosphere that's drawn in a nicer crowd. It's inexpensive, which is brilliant for us who fancy a few rounds without worrying about the wallet, and if you're into footie, having Sky Sports on makes it a top choice for match days. On the flip side, it's a shame there's no real ale, as that might put off some of the more discerning drinkers out there. Plus, with not much buzz lately, it could be a bit hit or miss if you're after something buzzing or fresh. All in all, it's a solid pick for a laid-back evening with mates, but it's worth going in with realistic expectations to enjoy what it does best.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • They serve up nice tasting pints that are reasonably priced, so you won't break the bank for a good drink.
  • The atmosphere has improved loads with the new owners, creating a more upmarket and pleasant vibe.
  • It's got Sky Sports on the telly, perfect for enjoying a match with your drink without missing a kick.
Cons
  • No real ale on offer, which could leave some beer enthusiasts a bit disappointed.
  • There haven't been many recent reviews, so it might feel a tad quiet or unchanged from its past.
  • Based on older feedback, there were some past issues with troublemakers, even if they've been sorted now.

I think some of the opinions and reviews about this place are really unfair. Lived around the area for nearly a year and wouldn't step foot in here. When I did I was pleasantly surprised. it's a locals pub, but all are friendly and staff have good control of bar and custom. beer and cider are good, shorts - a basic range but considering the size of the place, perfectly reasonable and good choice on tap. Only advice would be to do something a bit more with the back room. Good weekend entertainment too.

Quite friendly for a suburban pub, but no real ale. Has Sky Sports on large TV screen for the football.
