About This Pub

Ah, the Kings Head, what a lovely spot it is in the midst of Norwich. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's all about celebrating the best of British pub culture, with an impressive lineup of cask ales that really hit the spot for anyone who appreciates a proper pint. The reviews are glowing, with folks raving about the fresh, well-kept beers and that welcoming, sociable vibe that makes it feel like your local go-to, even if you're just passing through. It's got that timeless appeal, with a simple, authentic interior that's perfect for sinking into a chat with mates or enjoying a quiet drink. On the flip side, though, it's not the place if you're hoping for a hearty meal – you're stuck with snacks like crisps, which might not satisfy if hunger strikes. And while its traditional roots are a big plus, it could come across as a bit old-school for those after something more contemporary. All in all, if you're a fan of real ale and fancy a relaxed, affordable evening out, this one's a winner; it's got that heartwarming pub spirit that's hard to beat, but just keep in mind it might not tick every box for a full night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of real ales and ciders – up to 14 on hand-pump from local East Anglian breweries, making it a real treat for beer enthusiasts.
  • Warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a cosy, traditional feel that makes you feel right at home, perfect for a good chat and some friendly banter.
  • Friendly staff and a lively vibe, as mentioned in the reviews – it's that kind of place where you get a proper welcome and might even spot a bar billiards table for a bit of fun.
  • Inexpensive prices, so you can enjoy a session without breaking the bank, and it's open seven days a week from noon till late.
Cons
  • No proper food on offer, just crisps and nuts, which might leave you a bit peckish if you're after a full meal rather than just drinks.
  • It has a very traditional setup, which is charming but could feel a tad outdated for those who prefer more modern or trendy spots.
  • The location in the heart of Norwich is handy, but if you're not local, it might not stand out as easily among the city's other pubs, and the inconsistent Sunday hours could catch you out.

Didn't have food so unfair to rate- a proper local . Hidden gem. Good atmosphere..I'm not a regular but lovely surroundings-top landlady and wide selection of all alcohol plus own beers bar billiards table is a great touch. Shame I don't live closer. So many pubs too big too modern and maybe I'm getting old but one of my favourite places. Mature pub ! For mature people

This is my favourite pub, in Norwich or anywhere else. Two bars, a bar billiards table, and 10-12 local beers on draught. No food, apart from crisps, nuts, and so on. There’s always a friendly welcome, and for a city pub it’s cosy and sociable.
