About This Pub
Ah, The Plasterers Arms – it's one of those pubs that really warms your heart when you step inside, with its nostalgic countryside feel right in the middle of Norwich. I've got to say, the beer selection is a standout; they're all about those fresh, exciting craft brews that change up daily, and it's brilliant for anyone who loves exploring new flavours without the big corporate names. Pair that with their delicious pizzas – think thin crusts with plenty of veggie and vegan choices – and you've got a solid spot for a casual night out. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and letting you sample before you dive in, which makes it feel like you're among mates. On the flip side, it's a bit gutting to hear it's lost some of that buzz, especially with fewer cask options and prices that might sting a little; Sundays in particular can feel more subdued than you'd hope, and there's a nagging sense it might not be at its peak anymore. Still, for a chilled evening with good company, it's worth a visit – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a top time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely brilliant – they focus on exciting craft beers that change daily, with plenty of pales, ambers, and even sneaky experimental flavours if you ask.
-
Their pizzas are a real treat, with a great variety including tasty vegan and vegetarian options, all served with a nice thin crust that hits the spot.
-
It's got a cosy, welcoming atmosphere that feels a bit like a countryside escape in the heart of Norwich, perfect for a relaxed pint or catching sports on the telly.
-
The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, always happy to let you try a beer before committing, which makes the whole experience feel personal and fun.
-
They've got options for everyone, like alcohol-free beers and a kid-friendly policy before 8pm, plus dogs are welcome, making it a versatile spot for different groups.
Cons
-
It seems like the beer variety has taken a hit lately, with only one cask on offer now compared to the old days of 8-10, which might disappoint those after a wider choice.
-
Some of the keg beers come across as overpriced, especially if you're used to more budget-friendly options elsewhere.
-
The vibe can feel a bit quiet or even lacklustre at times, particularly on Sundays, where it might not live up to its buzzing past and could give off a 'winding down' energy.
-
There might be some confusion around opening hours or the pub's future, as a few folks have mentioned it looking like it could be on its last legs, which is a shame.

Lovely building and has something of the feeling of a countryside pub, which is nice nostalgia for me. Craft beers, pales, cloudy... and amber ales as well as sneaky, experimental flavour notes hiding in cans in the fridge if you ask. Honestly, great atmosphere for those who want good acoustics to the music but not an overwhelming echo. Great place to chat, drink, learn about beer, bring a dog or meet a friend. Bar staff are knowledgeable without overwhelming you with too much bright breeziness. I like the wood floor and active fireplace. Whether it feels like "hot-spot" or "hide-out" will depend on the time of day, the day itself, and the mystery that is public footfall. I would say that it is a good hide-out though, and welcome space for if you have a book, some knitting or just a desire to loiter a while in your day. Need to update advert as dont serve food, do allow Deliveroo and similar. An irreplaceable discovery of a pub, with a quite charm to it.
What has happened? Sunday used to be buzzing.
Now a damp squib of knitters and overpriced keg beers.
One cask on. Used to be 8-10.
Maybe the owner has had enough. It seems so.
Some blokes came in. Asked if it was closing. Certainly looks like it. Sell it on. It's dead. Recognise it and move on.
Don't let this once great pub go without a fight. Yes I realise things aren't easy but cmon already. It's embarrassing.
For the record a great pint of Three Blind Mice. (Expensive though).
Good luck.
Shame as we used to love it.
Love the blackboard full of cask & keg beers. Often hard to choose just one! Great place for a quiet, chilled beer
Visited today and loved the great selection of alcohol-free beers among their normal beers.
They have a nice and interesting list of pizzas, including a really varied vegan and vegetarian range. Pizzas were tasty, with a nice thin crust.
Cosy vibes, nice staff, I'll hopefully be back to try the other pizzas ✨
Great beer, food and staff here at the Plasters. The beer selection is amazing and changes daily. Joe and his team are very knowledgeable about their products and you can always try before you buy 😉. The food menu is simply excellent. Pizzas, loaded fries. Chicken wings on Tuesdays and fry ups at the weekend. This is one pub not to be missed when visiting Norwich.
