About This Pub

Ah, the King William IV – what a cracking spot it is, tucked away in Littleborough. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food steals the show; folks rave about the homemade dishes like burgers and pies that taste fresh and full of flavour, with one reviewer even calling it a 'big surprise' in the best way. The service is another highlight – it's that warm, attentive kind where the team chats with you and makes sure everything's just right, whether you're wrangling a big group of kids or bringing the dog along for a walker's pit stop. And let's not forget the little extras, like the stunning views and that wax elephant that's become a bit of a legend for selfies. On the flip side, it's a shame it's not open every day, so you might have to plan around those closures, and without a website, it's not the easiest to get the lowdown beforehand. Still, for the price – think deals that feel like a bargain – it's well worth the effort if you're in the mood for a proper pub experience. Overall, I'd say it's a place that does the simple things brilliantly, making it a top pick for anyone after good food and good company, but just keep those opening times in mind to avoid any disappointments.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious and homemade – think proper chips, amazing burgers, haddock, and steak pie that leave you wanting more.
  • Service is warm and friendly, with staff going out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're in a large group, with kids, or even with your dog.
  • It's a great spot for families and walkers, offering a relaxed atmosphere and even quirky features like that somewhat frightening wax elephant for a fun selfie.
  • Value for money is spot on, like getting two meals for £20 that feel worth double the price.
  • With a solid 4.6 rating from plenty of happy visitors, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a memorable experience, especially with its stunning views.
Cons
  • It's only open five days a week, which might cramp your plans if you're hoping for a spontaneous visit on the quieter days.
  • No website means it's a bit tricky to check out the menu or hours in advance – you'd have to rely on Google or pop by.
  • The location in Littleborough could be a trek for those not nearby, making it less convenient if you're not already in the area.

Our family of 11 stayed in accommodation nearby during the half term holiday and we ate a delicious meal at The King William IV. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, EVERY dish that was served was delicious and home made, inc proper home made chips. Service was warm and friendly, we can't recommend it enough, will definitely be back!

We were a large party of 10 with children over a Bank Holiday. The staff were very welcoming and looked after us all extremely well. The food arrived quickly which is a bonus with young children who get fidgetty.

What a wonderful pub. Welcoming to walkers and dogs. The food was delicious and homemade with lots of choice. Service attentive and friendly. The Guinness was like cream. We can't wait to go back. Be sure to get a selfie with the somewhat frightening wax elephant.

Just ate here tonight. 2 meals for £20. What can I say…? Wow! Outstanding! I’d have been happy to pay twice that. Fresh, tasty, REAL chips, perfect portion and a good but not too overwhelming wine list. Our waitress was lovely and attentive and the owners popped over to say hello. We will definitely be back. Thanks very much 😃
