About This Pub
Ah, the Jonty Farmer – it's one of those local gems in Derby that just draws you in with its warm, homely feel. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the staff are absolute stars, always on hand with a smile and quick to sort you out, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for a meal. The beer garden is a real highlight, especially on a nice day, where you can relax with friends and soak up the outdoors while tucking into some solid pub grub that's both affordable and hearty. It's brilliant for catching the game too, with plenty of screens and that buzzing energy that makes watching sport even more enjoyable. They've got a good lineup of events like quiz nights that add to the fun, making it a top choice for groups or families looking for a good time. On the downside, though, the drinks menu might not thrill ale enthusiasts with its focus on familiar options rather than anything too adventurous, and it does get packed at times, which could mean a bit of a wait when you're keen for that next round. All in all, it's a solid spot that does the basics brilliantly and has that welcoming pub charm, but it's worth keeping in mind if you're after something a tad more low-key or unique.

There's always something happening, like quiz nights and events, which keep the vibe fun and engaging for everyone.
Cons
-
The ale selection sticks to the classics without many guest options, so if you're after something unusual, it might feel a bit limited.
-
It can get pretty busy, especially on event nights or weekends, which might mean waiting for a table or service.
-
With a standard closing time around 11 PM, it's not the best for those fancying a proper late-night session.

I’ve been coming to the Jonty for over ten years and never had a bad experience. Location is ideal, staff are helpful and friendly. Menu has really expanded over the years and offers good, affordable food.
I love the Jonty! My lacrosse team and I go after our weekly training sessions and we always get yummy food with nice service! Good prices, good food and good people
Visited recently and had a great experience. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We sat in the lovely garden to have a drink and then inside for some food. Everyone enjoyed their food and it came out pretty quick. Would visit again
Great pub with friendly staff, new manager was really helpful and made time for us despite it being busy. Good selection of classic real ales, no guest ales but all the favourites were available, really nice pint of Peddie!
Food was really good, generous portion size. I had the mixed grill which was fantastic, wife had a freshly made pizza she really enjoyed, and great food options for the kids. Will be back soon
Staff were all so catering towards my needs, will be returning. Food was wonderful. Thank you.
