About This Pub
Ah, The Brick & Tile – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles with its welcoming feel, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are top-notch, always up for a laugh and making sure everyone feels included, which is just what you want on a night out. It's got that real community spirit, where you can nip in for a pint of excellent Guinness and end up chatting away with the locals, perhaps even making a few new mates along the way. With a solid 4.4 rating, it's clear most folks have had a cracking time there. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses – I've seen mentions of them not having cask ale on tap, which is a bit of a letdown if you're after something more traditional. And then there's that unfortunate story about the management getting a tad heavy-handed with a customer over something as straightforward as ordering tap water; it does leave a sour note and makes you wonder about consistency. Still, if you're in Derby and fancy a relaxed spot for a drink, I'd say give it a go – just keep those expectations balanced, and you might just have a belter of an evening.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – they're so friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's a fantastic spot for a good chat and meeting new people; the atmosphere really fosters that sense of community.
-
The Guinness is spot on, and it's clear from the reviews that it's a highlight for anyone popping in for a pint.
Cons
-
They don't always have cask ale available, which could disappoint those of us who fancy a proper traditional brew.
-
There have been a couple of dodgy experiences with management, like that incident where someone was kicked out over a simple request for tap water, which feels a bit over the top.

Lovely pub, very friendly staff & we were made to feel welcome.
Sadly no cask ale on sale (until we were about to leave) but the Guinness was excellent.
Yet another little gem of a pub, great people and 🍺
First time in and it was a good night was made to feel very welcome staff where so polite and nice great pug
3 of me and my mates went to it as our local, regularly buy drinks here. 2 of us were served and the other one was embarrassed by the manager claiming he’s playing games ordering tap water (a legal requirement at request) and kicked out, despite ordering pints every other time he’s been there
I've been visiting the brick for over 12 months now. I have to say I've never felt so welcome in a pub before like this place. I've met and got to know so many people who I now regard as good friends. The landlord Andy is such a lovely fella, he makes me laugh all the time...his 2nd in command Jayde is absolutely awesome.I just love coming here ( oh, forgot to say....best kept secret in Derby.....it must be the cheapest pub in town)!!!
