About This Pub

You know, when you step into Mr Grundy's Tavern, it's like walking into a cosy corner of history right in the heart of Derby – think old-world charm with roaring fires on chilly nights and a lovely beer garden when the sun's out. I really appreciated how the staff are so approachable and eager to chat, making every visit feel like catching up with mates. The food's a highlight too; whether it's a delicious pizza or a solid meal, it's all about that good value without skimping on flavour. And let's not forget the fun side – pub quizzes and music nights add a real buzz, perfect for a relaxed evening out. On the downside, the drinks do come at a premium, so it might not be the cheapest pint in town, and with the kitchen shut on Mondays and limited hours otherwise, you'll want to check ahead to avoid disappointment. All in all, it's a gem for a proper pub experience, but keeping those little niggles in mind will help you make the most of it.

The food is always delicious and good value for money! The atmosphere is great and the pub quiz is so much fun, definitely recommend! Overall one of, if not the best pub in derby!

This is an excellent pub and hotel, dog friendly with excellent staff. Two main room with fireplaces, first more bench/drinking type and the second more like a dining room. Food is excellent quality and served fresh. Good range of drinks and decent prices. They also have a relationship with pizza pony - an award winning true Italian style pizza service that's well worth checking out.

Updated Nov 2024 Think it deserves another star as we found the service to still be consistently good but the food to have vastly improved. The mixed grill was fairly substantial and fish & chips was large. Especially liked the availability of Hawkstone on tap here A wonderfully bubbly and bustling place with great service. Pity about the seafood platter, which was more batter than sea. Guess we lewrn from our mistakes
