About This Pub
Ah, Jefferson's – it's one of those places that just feels like a reliable old friend in the town centre, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it, folks really rave about the warm, welcoming staff who bend over backwards to sort you out, whether you're grabbing a bite or settling in for the night. The location's a winner too; it's smack in the middle of things, making it dead handy for work trips or nipping out for a wander. The food's another highlight – think hearty, well-cooked meals that won't break the bank, paired with a nice pint or wine in the bar. On the flip side, it can sometimes come across as more hotel-like than a full-on pub, so if you're after that energetic crowd or live music, it might not quite deliver. Plus, with the operating hours not always clear, you might find yourself double-checking before heading over. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening or a comfortable stay, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep expectations balanced for a proper pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely wonderful – always friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to make you feel right at home, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
-
It's in a brilliant spot in the heart of Barrow-in-Furness, perfect for popping in after work or exploring the local area, with easy access to nearby businesses and attractions.
-
The food and drink are spot on – lovely meals that are great value, whether you're after a quick pint, a glass of wine, or a full dinner, and the rooms are clean and comfortable if you're staying over.
-
Everything feels homely and well-maintained, with comfy beds, free WiFi, and even options for serviced apartments that have all the mod cons you might need.
Cons
-
The operating status seems a bit unclear at times, as it might not always be open when you'd expect, which could put a dampener on spontaneous visits.
-
It's more of a hotel with a bar and restaurant rather than a dedicated pub, so if you're after a lively, buzzing atmosphere, it might feel a tad quiet or functional at points.
-
Details on opening hours aren't readily available, making it tricky to plan ahead without checking in advance, which can be a bit of a nuisance.

Brilliant food and service, very friendly staff, the place is very clean, modern and fresh.
Ideally situated Hotel in the heart of Barrow in furness, right by the lovey Old building of the Town Hall.
Great spot to use for a base, when visiting this area of beautiful Cumbria.
Had a very pleasant stay here, nicely cooked meals (including a nice breakfast), clean room, friendly staff, well topped up bar and car parking right across the road.
I wouldn't say the rooms were big, but big enough for a couple for a short break and all in all found it to be good value for money in this part of the country.
Lovely, cosy room, food was great in both the evening and morning. Even though there wasn't many others in the dining hall, the staff made every effort to make sure I had what I needed.
This has been my first time in barrow and they've made it a good one, will definitely be staying here again when I'm next up.
