About This Pub
Ah, the Horse & Farrier – it's one of those unassuming local spots in Lancaster that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute gems, always up for a chat and making everyone feel welcome, which really adds to that homely feel. I love how it's got this cosy atmosphere where you can enjoy a meal with friends or just unwind with a cheap pint; plus, the beer garden sounds like a treat on a nice day, and those live music nights with singers belting out Motown tunes must be brilliant fun. On the flip side, though, it can turn a bit chaotic with karaoke crowds or drunk groups on busier evenings, so you'd want to pick your visit wisely if you're after something quiet. The pub's a bit compact too, which might not suit if you're in a larger group or it's packed out. Overall, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers looking for good value and a genuine local experience, but do keep in mind it might not always be the serene retreat you hope for – still, I'd say it's worth a go for that friendly charm.

Had dinner with a group of ramblers and enjoyed our meal, lovely friendly atmosphere.
Friendly staff, nice down to earth pub, quiet early evening, nice if you want a peaceful drink
We heard a great Motown singer with a fab blues voice. Laid back atmosphere, people up and dancing. Great night.
I called in for a drink the other day and it was a nice cozy environment with friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Although rather small it made it feel comfortable with good air circulation and cool in the current heatwave. Prices are also reasonable too so it is a nice place to visit - and it has a courtyard out the back as well.
A good Thwaites experience, with very cheap alcohol. Could be quite cosy on the right night, has a beer garden. On the wrong night it'll be full of drunk people doing karaoke.
