About This Pub
Ah, Haven Bistro & Bar – it's one of those places that just feels like a reliable favourite once you've been. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is where they really excel; folks rave about dishes like the spaghetti carbonara that's creamy and flavoursome, or the chicken escalope with its light, crispy breadcrumbs and homemade sides – it's all about that comforting, home-cooked feel with generous portions that leave you satisfied. The service adds to the charm too, with staff who are professional yet warm, making sure everything runs smoothly without being over the top. On the drinks front, there's a brilliant selection of wines and cocktails that pair perfectly, and it's great for groups or even private dos up to 200, though I have to say, the decor in those spaces can come across as a tad neutral and lacking in real atmosphere, which might disappoint if you're after something more vibrant. Still, with a solid 4.4 rating from heaps of happy visitors, it's clear they get a lot right, especially for the price – it's moderately priced, so you won't feel short-changed. All in all, if you're looking for a straightforward, enjoyable spot for a meal or a catch-up, I'd give it a go, but maybe plan ahead for the seating and keep expectations in check for the ambiance.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – think creamy spaghetti carbonara, generous portions that feel like a proper home-cooked meal, and a great selection of menus including brunch, kids' options, and even cocktails that hit the spot.
-
Service is top-notch; the staff are friendly, professional, and just the right amount of attentive without hovering, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a modern and tastefully decorated vibe, perfect for everything from a casual lunch to private functions up to 200 people, and the value for money is brilliant – high-quality grub without breaking the bank.
-
They've got a fantastic range of drinks, from wines and cocktails to dessert wines, which pair wonderfully with the meals and add to the overall enjoyable experience.
Cons
-
The decor can feel a bit bland in some areas, especially for private events, where it relies on basic setups and might not create much of an atmosphere on its own.
-
Seating arrangements aren't always ideal; for instance, some spots have low chairs that don't quite match the tables, which could make for an uncomfortable meal.
-
With the place only open six days a week and a few inconsistencies in the Sunday hours, it might not be as flexible for spontaneous visits as you'd hope.

We weren't planning to eat here, we happened to be walking past, and the special lunch menu caught our eye.
I had the spaghetti carbonara which was really creamy and tasty. Almost too much! Service was really helpful and friendly. Seating position wasn't a great combination with the low chair and table - casual section of the restaurant. Otherwise a lovely experience.
Attended a joint 60th birthday celebration.
The event was held in a space separate from the main restaurant (also bland in decor relying on large planters) with neutral decor, not really giving an atmosphere of any kind but relying on table decorations.
Staff are professional, and the service provided is of a high standard.
Food is of exceptional quality, and care is also taken when presented at the table.
Parking is on the street, which on a Sunday is less of a challenge, being able to park on single yellow lines.
This place serves food not just satisfying to the taste buds but also healthy options. We got our order just in a few minutes and taste like home cooked meal 🤌
Service very good, professional and not excessively engaging. 🫰
Meal portions just adequate 👌
Highly recommend!
I personally like the atmosphere and service. In terms of food quality, we have only tried the Steak sandwich and chicken roast, so it’s a bit early to provide a full comment on the food. I will try more dishes since I was generally happy with my previous orders. So this review and score will be updated. Stay tuned folks!
Fantastic customer service and attentive staff. brilliant selection of wine, cocktails and other alcohol drinks.we enjoyed alcohol drinks, desert wine and club sandwich which was really fulfilling and generous portion. Long Island iced tea cocktail and Italian dessert wine Visciolata were delicious. Kat who kindly served us was very knowledgeable about their menu and we very much liked her recommendations. Julius, the owner, is very humble and welcoming. It was our first time and we really enjoyed it. Nice ambience whether you just want to have a drink at the bar or dine. I liked the setting. We would definitely go back.
