About This Pub

Oh, what a gem this place is! I've got to say, popping into the Harvester Bell & Barge feels like a proper treat, especially if you're in Rugby and fancy a bite without the fuss. The staff are just lovely, always greeting you with a smile and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really sets the tone for a relaxed visit. The food's a standout – think juicy rotisserie chicken, flavoursome grills, and that endless salad bar that's become a bit of a legend; it's all so fresh and satisfying, and they've got options for everyone, whether you're a meat lover or going plant-based. Sitting by the canal with a cold pint in the beer garden on a sunny day is just blissful, and it's spot on for families with a dedicated kid's menu to keep the little ones content. But, let's be fair, it's not flawless – I did hear about one dish, like the salmon, being a smidge overcooked, which is a shame when the rest is so good. And it can get a bit hectic during peak times, so you might have to queue, or if you're after some peace and quiet, the family vibe might make it feel a touch noisy. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together; you'd be hard-pressed not to enjoy yourself here, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for that perfect blend of good food, friendly faces, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is absolutely delicious, with highlights like the rotisserie chicken, grilled dishes, and that famous unlimited salad bar – it's a real treat for the taste buds.
  • It's a brilliant spot for families, with a kid's menu and plenty of options to keep everyone happy, plus a lovely waterside location with a sunny beer garden that's perfect for a relaxing pint.
  • The atmosphere is vibrant and relaxed, ideal for casual meals or unwinding after a walk along the canal.
  • Great value for money, especially with set menus and a wide range of dishes including vegetarian and vegan choices.
Cons
  • Occasionally, some dishes might not be cooked to perfection, like the salmon that one person found a bit overdone.
  • It can get quite busy, especially in the summer months when the beer garden is popular, which might mean a wait for a table.
  • As a family-friendly place, it can sometimes feel a tad lively with little ones around, which isn't ideal if you're after a quiet evening.

Visited yesterday with my partner after a shopping trip to Rugby centre, and we were pleasantly surprised! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the barman prepared some fantastic drinks for us. We ordered the skewered chicken and pork belly – absolutely delicious, way better than we expected! Big thanks to the team for the warm hospitality and great food. Highly recommend 💯

We had the set menu, which was great value. The main course was salmon and was so pleased to see this option. Delicious veg and potatoe, but sadly, the salmon was very overcooked. Otherwise, it would have been perfection! The salad bar has been pimped up well. The beetroot & apple pasta amazing as us the bean salad - absolute winner. The coleslaw continues to look manky. Staff were all fabulous. Will return.

We went to the Bell and Barge last Friday night, we have been a few times now and it’s safe to say this Harvester always delivers. It was a lovely location to spend the warm summer’s evening, the vibrant atmosphere was accompanied by delicious food and friendly customer service. I would like to offer particular thanks to our waitress for the evening, Mackenzie, who was an absolute pleasure and catered to our every need. She deserves a promotion. The food was exquisite, as always, I would thoroughly recommend the chicken stack or the grilled salmon and baked potato, which is my uncle’s all-time favourite. The salad bar was once again sensational, I would highly recommend the newly added beetroot and apple pasta salad. Five stars to the Bell and Barge, we cannot wait to come back.

5 Stars – Great Food and Friendly Service! I recently had a lovely meal at Harvester and left genuinely impressed. From the moment I walked in, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a casual bite. I ordered the Classic Chicken Burger, and it was absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The portion size was generous, and it came with perfectly cooked chips and a fresh helping from the salad bar, which is always a great bonus at Harvester. What stood out most was the value for money and the attentive service throughout the meal. Everything felt well looked after, from the food to the cleanliness of the restaurant. If you’re after a hearty, satisfying meal in a comfortable setting, Harvester is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be returning soon!
