About This Pub
Ah, Harleys Bar – it's one of those pubs that you hear about and think, 'Sounds like a proper local gem.' From the reviews, it's got this warm, down-to-earth feel with a friendly crowd and staff who usually hit the mark on service. I love how they've spruced the place up with a refurb, and the drink options are spot on – think everything from tasty gins to world beers and even cocktails for when you're in the mood for something fancy. Plus, they throw in live entertainment every so often, which is a nice touch for shaking things up on a quiet night. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing; there are a couple of stories about staff being less than polite, which is a real shame and could make anyone think twice about heading back. Prices might catch you out too, as they're a bit higher than what you'd find down the road, and it does have that strong local vibe that might not suit everyone if you're just passing through. All in all, if you're up for a pint in South Shields, it's worth giving it a go for the positives, but keep in mind it has its rough patches – just like any good chat over a drink, it's about weighing the good with the not-so-good.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is really welcoming and friendly, with a mix of locals creating that classic pub vibe.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, from wines and ales to cocktails and prosecco, perfect for a relaxed evening.
-
Live entertainment pops up now and then, which adds a bit of excitement and makes for a lively night out.
-
Service is generally spot on, with fair prices that make it feel accessible for a casual get-together.
Cons
-
There have been some upsetting reports of rude and discriminatory behaviour from staff, which really puts a damper on things.
-
Prices can be a bit steep compared to other nearby spots – like a pint going for £4 when you can get it for £3 elsewhere.
-
It comes across as very much a local hangout, so if you're not from the area, it might feel a tad exclusive or unwelcoming at times.

Worst experience I have in my life the staff was very rude and racist. I felt embarrassed in their pub because of something, and I would not recommend this to anyone.
A bar with character and characters. Good service fair prices. A friendly varied clientel.
Well I came here today as I had never visited before, I found the place quiet and very much a local bar,
I found the price of Carling at 4.00 to be on the high side as other places near by is 3.00 so a vast difference to say the least.
I found it to be a family bar but definitely a locals bar.
Refurbished looks fab & owner scarlet great hospitality from staff too. Warm friendly down to earth 🌎 people. Pints, wines, procesco, cocktails 🍸 very glam many more 👌 ♥
Amazing bar. Wide selection of wines, ales, world beers, offering cocktails, tasty gins, prosecco and much more. Live entertainment 1-2 times a month. Friendly atmosphere too.
