About This Pub

Ah, the Half Way House – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot, you know? Tucked away in Blackpool's South Shore, this historic gem has been given a lovely makeover, blending old-school charm with a modern twist. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food's a real winner; think stone-baked pizzas and hearty meals that have people coming back for more, even if it's a bit of a drive. The atmosphere is spot on too – friendly staff, a great selection of beers from the eight cask pumps, and all sorts of entertainment like watching the footy or joining in on a Sunday quiz. It's brilliant for families or if you've got the dog in tow, with outdoor space and easy access. On the flip side, a few have mentioned it's not the cheapest for what you get, so you might want to keep an eye on the wallet. All in all, it's a solid spot for a laugh and a pint, and with that high rating, I'd say it's worth checking out for a proper Blackpool experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – folks are raving about the amazing pizzas and overall menu, with one mate even driving 20 miles just to get there.
  • It's a real welcoming spot, with a friendly environment that makes you feel right at home, especially with the top-notch service and attention to things like allergies.
  • Loads of great entertainment on offer, like live sports on Sky and BT, pub quizzes on Sundays, and live music, plus a cosy beer garden for a relaxing pint.
  • Perfectly placed near Blackpool airport and the Pleasure Beach, with a large free car park, making it dead easy to pop in after a day out.
  • It's family-friendly and dog-friendly, with facilities like disabled access, so it's ideal for a casual get-together with the whole gang.
Cons
  • It can be a bit on the pricey side for the food, as one person pointed out – you might feel it's not quite worth the extra quid compared to other spots.
  • While it's generally buzzing, some might find the atmosphere a tad overwhelming if you're after a quiet nook, though there are snug areas for that.

Nice place with great atmosphere, My only issue to be honest is it's a bit pricey for the food on offer. There is one question that remains which I have wanted to ask for over fifty years. Where is this place half way to? 😁

Had lunch here for the first time today, based on the recommendation of a friend. Half Way House is situated approx 2 miles away from the end of the M55 in Blackpool, Lancashire. I understand the pub has recently been refurbished and I must say, it has been done to a high standard. There are numerous menus to choose from and various offers also available. For anyone who has an emergency services Blue Light card, this is also accepted. 10% saved on our bill today! We opted for 3 small plates each. It was served similar to a tapas. The food here is some of the best I have tasted! So much so, I forgot to take photos as I was too busy tasting each of the high quality dishes! The table service, pub atmosphere and food quality could not be faulted and I would most definitely recommend this pub. Be warned, it is so popular that tables are difficult to come by, particularly evenings and weekends. My advice would be to book in advance! My compliments go to the chef and staff who make this place so outstandingly good!!
