About This Pub
Ah, the Great Northern – it's one of those pubs that just wraps you up in a lovely, homely feel the second you step inside. I love how it's so welcoming to everyone, whether you're popping in with the little ones or your furry friend; the staff go out of their way to make sure you're looked after, which really adds to the charm. The drinks selection is brilliant, with a great variety of ales and ciders that pair perfectly with some hearty chats, and the food doesn't disappoint either – that Sunday roast is an absolute winner, all juicy and flavoursome without skimping on portions. It's got this unexpectedly spacious beer garden too, which is just the ticket for a bit of fresh air on a nice day. On the flip side, though, their website is pretty bare bones, so you might have to rely on word of mouth or a quick call to get the lowdown on events or menus. And the opening times can feel a bit hit or miss, with some days wrapping up earlier than you'd expect for a pub, which is a shame if you're after a longer evening out. All in all, it's a solid spot for good times and great company, but keeping those little niggles in mind will help you plan the perfect visit.
