About This Pub
Ah, the Golden Lion – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart from the moment you step in. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the team there, like Curtis and Bridget, are proper gems, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels welcome. The food's a standout; folks rave about the Sunday roasts and that pie menu sounds like it'd keep you busy for ages, not to mention the yummy puds that disappear faster than you can say 'seconds, please'. It's got a great drink selection too, which is spot on for a quiet country spot. On the other hand, it seems they're still settling in with the new setup, so things like the menus might not be fully sorted yet, and being a bit tucked away means it's not ideal if you're not local. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed outing – I'd say give it a go if you're after good grub and a friendly atmosphere, just pop in when it's open to avoid any surprises.

It's dog-friendly and has a fabulous, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed get-together with friends or family.

Cons
-
It might still be ironing out a few kinks, like getting the full menus up and running, based on some early feedback.
-
As a country pub, it's a bit out of the way, which could make it tricky for those not in the local area to pop in regularly.
-
Operating hours vary and it's closed one day a week, so you'll need to check ahead if you're planning a visit.

Curtis and Bridget good hosts. Ed is nice too. Should start a pool team and me be the captain. Food is nice. Good selection of drinks, especially for a country pub.
Lovely Food….recommend you check it out 👍
You pick your main, then choose your vegetables from a list, then choose what potatoes you like. Great idea.
Fantastic to see the Golden Lion open again and serving food at weekends. They were doing a roaring trade and there was a fabulous atmosphere. Had a great Sunday roast dinner. Will definitely be back to work through the extensive pie menu and have more yummy sticky toffee pudding (sorry no photo - ate it too fast)
My son and I had a fabulous meal here, the menu is great, catering for all, we had the vegetarian options a fantastic Sunday roast it’s the best we have ever had, the new owners are very friendly and service was outstanding, dog friendly too so making this the perfect pub, highly recommend
I went in here last Friday, new owners. They had a some taster’s on of what they will be serving. Fish, scotch eggs, black pudding, home made steak pie, all great. Beer was good, plenty of people turned out.
Hopefully the menus will be up and running soon.
