About This Pub
Ah, the Globe Inn, what a gem it's turned out to be in Wardle. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, the new management has really stepped up, bringing in quiz nights with homemade grub, free pool sessions, and even the footie on screen, which adds such a fun touch to the place. It's got that classic cosy feel, with a chilled atmosphere where you can enjoy a decent pint without it getting too hectic, and the staff are absolute stars, always making you feel welcome. On the downside, the opening times can be a tad unclear after their recent changes, and if you're hoping for standout food options, well, it's not getting much mention, so you might want to keep expectations in check there. All things considered, it's a solid choice for a casual night out with friends, especially if you're nearby for a stroll – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff and regulars are so welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
-
It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding with a pint after a walk.
-
They've got a great selection of beers, including a nice pint of Guinness, and fun events like quiz nights, free pool, and football on the telly.
-
The location's spot on, right near the reservoir, making it ideal for a quick stop after some fresh air.
Cons
-
There seems to be a bit of confusion around the opening hours, as they've changed recently and it's not always clear.
-
Not many folks have mentioned the food, so it might not be the main draw if you're after a proper meal.

Local pub based in wardle village, decent service with a nice selection of beers.
Called for a drink after walking the dog with our friends at Watergrove reservoir, very handy location for the pub.
New management has made such a difference. They have changed the opening hours now open every day from 12pm, not sure about closing time though.
We were made very welcome by the staff when we arrived with 4dogs, The Globe has always been a dog friendly pub. None of l the hand pulled ales, have been connected yet but there are plans for Timothy Taylors Landlord bitter and others soon.
Plenty of choice of lagers and John Smith's smooth are available, spirits and wine selection plus soft drinks.
The staff brought some water over when we sat down and made a fuss of all the dogs which was very much appreciated, especially by the dogs, 3 Jack Russell's and 1 Cockapoo.
The beer garden is large and has been tidied up with new fences replacing the old damaged ones, grass cut abd tables cleaned.
We have heard locally that a chef has been appointed and are waiting to have this confirmed, with a start date for food to be served, a modern kitchen is in place just waiting to be utilised.
The food here in the past was very good , competively priced and served in large portions with an extensive menu, so we are hoping this will be the case when the food service begins.
There is a large pool room, with free pool some nights and the quiz night hopefully will still continue, give this pub a try its ideally located for visits before or after going to Watergrove reservoir, plenty of parking at the rear of the pub and another free car park close by.
Fab little pub, has a really nice atmosphere and loving what the new landlords are doing. Who doesn't love free pool, quiz nights (with beautiful homemade food) and the football on! The bar staff all seem lovely also, see you again soon!!
Nice pint of Guiness, chilled atmosphere. Not rammed I turned up 4ish on a Friday, though it may be later. Can't rate the food as I didn't try it.
Another one of those beautiful and cozy old pubs where you are not only being welcomed in a friendly way by the staff but even by the regulars. Lovely place to warm up the fire in winter or enjoy the weather in the beer garden in the summer. Great stop after an walk along the reservoir.
