About This Pub

Ah, the Gerrard Arms – it's one of those pubs that really warms your heart when you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food stands out as a real highlight; it's home-cooked and packed with flavour, often leaving you pleasantly surprised at how good it is for a local spot. The service is another winner – the team there are always on point, making sure everything runs smoothly so you can just unwind with a drink and a meal. It's got that cosy atmosphere that's spot on for a relaxed evening, and being dog-friendly means it's ideal if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop-off. On the flip side, though, there have been a few whispers about the food not being quite as reliable as it used to be, with some saying it's slipped a bit in recent visits, which is a bit disappointing given the high praise it usually gets. Also, the menu might not have as many options as you'd hope, so if you're in the mood for something specific, it could leave you wanting more. All in all, it's a solid choice for pub goers looking for a good meal and a chat, but I'd say keep an eye on those recent reviews to make sure it's on form when you pop in – it's got so much potential to be a favourite.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with generous portions and that fresh, home-cooked taste that makes you feel right at home – it's often compared to restaurant quality, which is a real treat for a pub.
  • The staff are super friendly and provide quick, attentive service, making every visit feel welcoming and relaxed, especially with their full table service that lets you just sit back and enjoy.
  • It's a lovely spot for a bite and a drink, with a great atmosphere that's perfect for casual meet-ups, and being dog-friendly adds a nice touch for those who want to bring their furry friends along.
  • They've got a solid vibe for events like quiz nights, and the overall high rating shows it's a reliable choice for a good time.
Cons
  • There have been a few mentions of a recent dip in food quality, which is a shame after such high standards – it might be worth checking in advance if you're planning a special visit.
  • The menu options can feel a bit limited at times, so if you're after a wide variety of choices, you might find yourself wanting more to pick from.

Been coming to the Gerrard ever since Pat took it over, and it was faultless food ale and service, then a young lad had it around the Covid period and it was still very good, however the past 3 occasions we have been there’s been a marked decline in the quality of the food, been today for Father’s Day, shocking Sunday roast…… terrible beef…. And the ale was flat after the 1st mouthful, not going again in a hurry

Me and my wife went today. Very good quality. I was expecting pub food but was happy to see the food was not. This was restaurant quality. No to ways about it. The only downside for me was, I'd of liked more food options. But what we had was 💯. Well done to the staff.
