About This Pub
Ah, Castle On T'Hill, what a gem of a pub it is – I've got to say, from what folks are saying, it's one of those places that really pulls you in with its welcoming feel and that genuine community spirit. You know, it's got all the makings of a great night out: the staff are brilliant, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after without any fuss, and at these inexpensive prices, you can enjoy a proper drink without worrying about the wallet. The entertainment's a real highlight too – whether it's the quiz on Tuesdays that gets everyone buzzing, or the karaoke and sports on the telly that keep things lively, it's clear this spot knows how to keep things fun. On the flip side, though, I've noticed a couple of recent comments that weren't quite as glowing, like one person giving it three stars, so it might have off days or not hit the mark every time you visit. Still, with an overall rating pushing 4.5, it's got that solid reputation for being clean, well-stocked, and just a comfortable place to unwind. If you're in the area, I'd definitely give it a go – it's one of those pubs that could become your new local favourite, as long as you keep expectations realistic for the odd quieter moment.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's a proper community hub where you always find a friendly face and a warm welcome.
-
Service is top-notch; the bar staff and owner go out of their way to make you feel like part of the family, with great prices that won't break the bank.
-
Loads of entertainment options, like quiz nights on Tuesdays, karaoke on Saturdays, and big screens for sports – perfect for a fun night out.
-
Everything's kept clean and tidy, from the bar area to the toilets, and they've got a massive selection of drinks to choose from.
Cons
-
Recent feedback suggests it might not be at its best all the time, with one recent review giving it just three stars, so things could vary depending on when you pop in.
-
The operating hours seem a bit confusing with multiple listings, and it's only open six days a week, which might not suit everyone looking for a spontaneous visit.
-
No website means it's not the easiest to check out online before heading over, which could be a minor hassle if you're planning ahead.

One of the most welcoming pubs i've been in with great prices and entertainment.
Not gonna lie, was very pleasantly surprised at our visit. Everything is clean. Toilets spotless. Good music. Football on the TV
The staff are amazing. The choice is vast. The bar had everything. Good karaoke on Saturday night when we visited.
We are going back!
Update: still 100% amazing
We love the place, a real pub
Update. We just love it here
Another update: never fails to amaze
There's a lot more to this pub once you go inside. Nice big bar area with pool table on one side and seating on the other. Big screen for sports events. If they don't serve it they probably don't make it as there is a massive drinks selection. Great friendly atmosphere, a good pub to visit after a round of golf at Hart common
