About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about Four Quarters East – it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a fun night out. Picture this: you're surrounded by beautifully restored arcade cabinets and consoles like Super Nintendo, all while sipping on some top-notch craft beers or a creative cocktail like the Yoshi Sour. The pizzas are spot on too, with tasty options that keep you fuelled for more gaming, and the canal-side beer garden is perfect for those warmer afternoons when you fancy a break from the screens. From what I've seen in the reviews, folks absolutely love the nostalgic feel and the friendly vibe from the team behind the bar. But, to keep it real, it does get packed at times, which can make it a bit of a squeeze, and if you're not in the mood for pizza, your choices are pretty slim. Still, for anyone after a bit of light-hearted competition and good drinks without breaking the bank, it's well worth a visit – I'd say give it a go and see if it transports you back to your younger days!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's full of that nostalgic vibe that makes you feel right at home, especially with the retro arcade games.
-
They've got a brilliant selection of classic games and consoles, like Space Invaders and Nintendo, perfect for battling it out with your mates.
-
The drinks are affordable and tasty, with a great range of craft beers from local breweries and fun cocktails that add a cheeky twist.
-
Pizzas are a real highlight – they're delicious, with options for everyone, including vegan ones, and pair brilliantly with the games.
-
The canal-side location is a gem, especially on a sunny day, with a beer garden that's ideal for chilling out after some gaming sessions.
-
The staff are always so welcoming and sweet, making the whole experience feel warm and personal.
Cons
-
It can get quite busy, particularly on evenings and weekends, which might mean waiting around for games or a spot.
-
Food choices are a bit limited, mostly just pizzas, so if you're after something more substantial or varied, you might end up disappointed.
-
Depending on where you're coming from, it could be a fair walk from the station, though the free shuttle bus helps soften that blow.
-
The place seems to have inconsistent operating info online, which might catch you out if you're planning a visit on a quieter day.

Amazing atmosphere as always! Great hang out spot with amazing pizzas and affordable drinks. The bartenders are always so sweet 100% recommend!
For a few hours I felt like I was a teenager again only with a beer in hand and lower back pain.
Good selection of beers, ninja turtle themed pizzas and all the arcade classics.
The location was super nice, right by the canal and clean
Busy on a Thursday but got to play everything I wanted to. You buy quarters at the bar and use these to play the retro arcades. Pizza was tasty alongside my Guinness which they poured correctly. Good atmosphere. I took the free shuttle bus from Stratford Train Station. Id go back.
First time here , was amazing! Cool place, good food and beer and really nice staff. Highly recommended! And these machines...you can fell your childhood !
Went here a couple of days ago. The alcohol tastes great and it has a very relaxed and nice atmosphere. It was empty when I arrived at 12 pm on a Sunday, gets busier in the evenings. Would be cool if they served a bit more than pizza but it’s a bar after all and focuses on its drinks, and pizza is always a perfect choice alongside alcohol.
Of course, the games are all retro as stated. I can’t say I am a fan of retro arcade games but you can’t really beat their selection if you are into them. I only wish they had Pac Man. To play with two players you will need to use four quarters instead of two for one player. You can get 15 quarters for £5 which goes quite a long way. I also believe they are card only so be aware of that.
We booked a N64 console and played Goldeneye and Mario Kart. There are no speakers with the console so all is played without sound. You need to ask staff to change the game which I’m not a fan of honestly, since I ended up wanting to change the game every 20 minutes and didn’t want to keep asking/bothering staff but I understand why, since people could steal the games and consoles if not.
A great bar for sure. Very pretty.
