About This Pub
Ah, Flan O'Briens – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper Irish gem tucked away in Bath, and I've got to say, it's got that warm, welcoming buzz that draws you in. From what I've gathered from the buzz around town and those reviews, the Guinness is an absolute standout; folks rave about it being the best in the area, and who am I to argue? Pair that with the top-notch service – bar staff who handle everything from technical glitches to tricky situations with real professionalism – and you've got a spot that's spot on for a laugh with friends. The live music really lifts the place, turning an ordinary evening into something memorable, and that outdoor patio is brilliant for whiling away an afternoon, keeping an eye on the world go by. But, let's be honest, it's not all pints and cheers; the indoor space is a tad tight, especially when it fills up with the rugby lot or on busy nights, which can make it feel a bit overwhelming. And if you're hoping for a meal, well, it's mostly just drinks here, so you might need to plan ahead for that. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone after a classic pub experience in Bath – the highs definitely outweigh the lows, but it's good to know what you're in for before you pop in.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Guinness here is top-notch and often hailed as the best in Bath – perfect for a proper pint with mates.
-
Fantastic service from the bar staff; they're professional and handle any issues with a smile, making you feel right at home.
-
Live music adds a brilliant vibe, turning it into a lively spot for a singalong or just soaking up the atmosphere.
-
That large outdoor patio is a winner for people watching and enjoying a drink al fresco on a sunny day.
-
It's a great place for sports fans, especially rugby crowds, with a welcoming feel for social gatherings.
Cons
-
Indoor seating is a bit limited, so it can feel cramped when things get busy, which might put you off on peak nights.
-
The place gets absolutely packed, particularly with the sports crowd, making it hard to find space or have a quiet chat.
-
No food on offer that we've heard of, so you'll have to head elsewhere if you're after a bite to go with your drink.
-
It can sometimes attract a rowdy element, like with certain customer issues, which might spoil the fun for a relaxed evening.

A great place for people watching. Large outdoor patio. Limited indoor seating. No food that I’m aware of. Like everyone else says “good Guinness.
Absolutely amazing service today, incredible bar staff. couldn't get better. Did an incredible service, even with the till down. They dealt very diligently and professionally with an issue surrounding a customer in the garden with her bare foot displayed, like a hobo. they also handled it professionally when the man kicked off and started being rude and aggressive to the bar staff. One of the best pubs in bath and the West Country. All due to amazing staff and great service
One of, if not, the best pub in Bath. Especially for a pint of Guinness of course. Top notch service and great management. Live music too! What more could you want from a local pub?
Lovely Irish pub that I've been going into on occasion for near a decade now.
I used to be able to control the tv with my phone, which was delightfully cheeky at the best of times, but it was more than just a mistake to attempt it during sports. If you were there during the incident all those years ago...it was me. I did it. I'm sorry.
Nice bar staff too.
