About This Pub
Ah, Five Ways Inn – it's one of those pubs that really captures the heart of what makes a good local tick. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the beer is bang on the money, with well-kept real ale that's got people coming back for more, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, which is always a winner in my book. The atmosphere's got that proper old-school feel, like stepping back in time for a chat and a bite – their cobs are apparently spot-on for a simple, satisfying meal. But, let's be fair, it's not all roses; a few mentions of the music being a bit overpowering could spoil the mood if you're after a mellow evening, and there's some mixed feelings on whether it's truly open to all, with one person noting it felt a bit cliquey and even had issues with the pet policy, which might put off dog lovers. Still, with a solid 4.4 rating and glowing reviews from most, it's worth popping in if you're nearby – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a great time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer is absolutely spot-on, with well-kept real ale that's a real treat for any ale enthusiast.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got that classic old-fashioned pub atmosphere, just like the good old days, which is perfect for a relaxed catch-up.
-
They serve up lovely cobs and other snacks that hit the spot, especially for a quick and tasty bite.
-
Folks rave about it overall, with plenty of high praise for the vibe and recommendations for a visit.
Cons
-
The music can sometimes be a bit too loud, which might put off those looking for a quieter chat over drinks.
-
There seems to be some confusion around pet policies; one person was disappointed that dogs weren't allowed, even in a spot where you'd expect it.
-
It can feel a tad exclusive at times, almost like a private club, which might not suit everyone new to the place.
-
They don't always serve the beer in the proper glass, which is a small niggle for those who appreciate the details.

Great pub, great beer, great atmosphere, great staff. Highly recommend a visit!!!!
Awesome pub with lovely cobs and well kept real ale. Very dog friendly.
Only popped in for a pint, passed it a couple of weeks ago with my dogs, dogs not allowed! A first for me in a Bathams pub. Decided to pop in on my own a few weeks later, music too loud, Bathams not served in a Bathams glass?? Two lads by the bar, like a private mens club. I'm a new face in the pub, not been in there for eighteen years, thought there would be a tad more engagement from the server. The beer was good though, and the cobs looked fresh and appealing. Bit more energy from the lads would of enticed me back. Shame, allow dogs and I would return.
Five months on, new owners have taken over, and the pub feels totally different. Lovely staff, good beer, decent cobs and dog friendly. Well done.
Dropped in by chance when in the area. Proper old fashioned pub! Warm welcome, newly taken over a few days ago.
Nice pub, as pubs used to be years ago. Lovely cheese and onion cobs, and drinks with family for Christmas. Pleasant staff and nicely decorated for Christmas.
