About This Pub
Ah, the Forge in Pensnett – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to make you feel welcome from the moment you step in, with staff who are genuinely warm and attentive, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates. The food's generally a winner, with plenty of hearty options that offer great bang for your buck, and I love that they've got a proper family-friendly setup, complete with a lovely garden for those sunny days and even space for your dog to join in. It's got that sociable atmosphere with events and entertainment that keep things buzzing, perfect for a relaxed Sunday lunch or a casual get-together. On the flip side, though, some folks have pointed out that the portions don't always match the price tag – you might find yourself eyeing up seconds after a meal that feels a touch skimpy. And while the core dishes are reliable, there are times when the food can come across as a bit ordinary, like with certain specials that don't quite deliver that wow factor we've all hoped for. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a bite, but keeping expectations in check will make for the best experience – I'd pop in for the atmosphere and service, and maybe skip the more adventurous menu items if you're after something truly memorable.

It might not always hit the mark for everyone, as a few folks have mentioned the food lacking that extra flair.

Cannot fault the quality of the food at all. The issue I have is the portion size. I thought it was a child’s portion. The landlady was so kind and understanding and advised that it was controlled by Marstons. Sorry Marstons but for £10 I’m sure you will see by the photo that I was shocked by the lack of food for the price. Again, the food quality was superb but I couldn’t get over the portion size and looked around on the table to see if I had missed something. Great place. Great staff. Marstons need to do something about it because I had one foot out the door before the lady came over to see the disbelief in my face. Thanks to the lady, I might think about coming back.
We were greeted by a lovely lady behind the bar, as soon as we walked in to the pub. We had booked a table, however, as it was fairly quiet, we were told we could sit where we wanted to. The service was quick and again, very friendly and the food was lovely. Great choice on the menu and reasonably priced too. We were made to feel very welcome and will definitely be returning in the near future.
Good quality food, at a good price.
Did not have to wait long.
Excellent customer Service all with a smile.
Warm and friendly atmosphere.
Lovely way to spend your Sunday Lunch time.
Highly recommended.
Great atmosphere full of smiles and laughter throughout. Staff are all lovely and the entertainment is SPOT ON ! Something for everybody !
Came here for the Christmas menu food and it was very underwhelming. The food is very basic. The place is kept clean and the staff were nice but let down by the food. The pate starter was very nice but the festive Mac and cheese was a huge letdown. Lacked cheese in the Mac and cheese or that it had it but you couldn't taste it as the cheese used must be very grade. Dessert was nothing special either very stodgy. Overall I would not come back for the food but the beer was good.
