About This Pub
Ah, Finsley Gate Wharf – it's one of those places that really captures the essence of a traditional canal-side spot in Burnley, and I've got to say, it sounds like a right treat for anyone popping in for a bite or a bevvy. From what folks are saying, the food steals the show with its lovely flavours – think burgers and pizzas that are packed with taste and come in portions that'll fill you up nicely. The staff are spot on too, always friendly and accommodating, especially if you're arriving by boat; they even let you moor up for free, which is a nice touch for a relaxed day out. And the location? Brilliant, right by the canal, making it ideal for a chilled afternoon or evening with mates. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses – there are times when the food quality dips a bit, like it might be relying on frozen options that don't quite match the price tag, and I've heard a few moans about things like pints not being poured just right, which can be a bit frustrating. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.4, it's clear this place gets more right than wrong, and I'd reckon it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just keep expectations balanced for a solid, enjoyable experience.

We popped in on a whim and were so glad we did! We had a burger and a pizza, and both were absolutely lovely – full of flavour and really well made. We thought it might be a bit pricey, but it was actually very reasonable, especially considering how good the food was. Portion sizes were spot on too. There was a great selection of drinks, and we sat outside overlooking the canal, which made for a really nice setting. There’s also loads of space inside, and it looked really cosy and full of good vibes. The staff were brilliant – friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend and will be back!
Lovely place food was nice & staff really nice, my son loved it that the football was on, thank you :)
It's a welcoming atmosphere and bar staff are friendly. However some need to be re-trained on how to pour a pint (see picture).
Food quality seems to have gone down hill, seems like freezer bag food and doesn't match the price.
The halloumi fries are better at McDonald's, and the general quality of the tapas menu is similar to spoons.
It's a shame to see one of Burnley's better establishments succumb to low quality food.
Very accommodating to canal boaters, they let us moor here free of charge, and they even let us bring our own food to eat inside. The drinks are great too. 10/10, really friendly pub in great location.
A lovely old wharf , barn and cottage have been renovated here to a high standard set on the Liverpool to Leeds canal . We were told that to meet heritage standards of a listed building , everything had to be repaired or replaced using materials that were available back when the buildings were built , even down to the putty used to house the window frames . With that in mind , what a glorious job they have done . The accommodation we stayed in , the turner suite was so inviting! With a lovely old stone fireplace and super modern bathroom which despite being set inside a cottage hundreds of years old was befitting of its surroundings. Needless to say , we had a wonderful stay here including watching the sun set out on the canal side with a drink from the bar / restaurant out of the converted wharf . Hats off to the owners who have obviously put a huge amount of time and money into this venue . Needless to say we felt we didn’t stay there long enough and it was a shame to leave
