About This Pub
Ah, Fells Restaurant – it's one of those places that just leaves you with a warm glow after a visit. From what I've gathered from the reviews and the vibe on their site, the food is spot on, with folks raving about the tasty dishes and how the team really pulls out all the stops to make everything feel special. It's got that nice balance of old-school charm from its hotel setting mixed with modern touches, which makes for a comfortable spot to unwind over a meal. The location's a bonus too, being so handy for travellers, and little perks like free parking add to the appeal. On the flip side, it does close up shop a bit early, so if you're hoping for a proper evening session, you might need to plan ahead or head elsewhere. Plus, it doesn't seem to have that constant buzz of a packed pub just yet, which could make it feel quieter than some might like. All in all, if you're after a solid, reliable spot for good grub and friendly chats, I'd say give it a go – it's got heaps of potential and those glowing reviews speak volumes about what they do right.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, which really adds to the homely vibe.
-
The food is absolutely delicious and well-prepared, with plenty of praise for the chefs' creativity and the great value on offer.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere blending historical charm with modern comforts, perfect for a relaxed evening out.
-
Convenient location near the M6 and train station, plus free parking and Wi-Fi, makes it easy to pop in without any hassle.
Cons
-
The opening hours wrap up fairly early around 8:30 PM, so it might not suit those after a late-night pint or lively session.
-
With not many recent reviews, it could feel a bit under the radar compared to busier spots, so you might miss out on that buzzing energy.
-
As it's part of a hotel, it has a more refined feel, which could make it seem a tad formal if you're after a casual, down-to-earth pub experience.

The Routledges
Excellent food. Excellent service. Great value. Recommended 100%. You have to give it a go.
Fantastic food and great service. Hotel is getting re-furbed too and if they do anything like as good a job as they've done of the restaurant then it will be great all round.
Amazing restaurant with delicious food. The chefs really do go above and beyond with the dishes they make and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. The restaurant and bar staff are so professional and extremely helpful. I have been a few times now but I always recommend to everyone asking for a great restaurant to go to.
