About This Pub

Ah, Elm Park Tavern – it's one of those neighbourhood gems that just feels like a proper British pub, you know? I had a great time there the other week; the cosy atmosphere really sets the tone for a laid-back evening, and the staff are just brilliant, always on hand with a smile and quick service that makes you feel welcome. The beers are spot on, and that Sunday roast? Absolute belter – tender, flavoursome, and great value too. Plus, with quiz nights and live music on offer, there's always something to get stuck into, and being dog-friendly adds a nice community touch if you're out with your pooch. On the flip side, though, the whiff of dogs can linger a bit and put some folks off, and it does get a wee bit noisy outside when it's bustling, which might spoil the mood for a quiet catch-up. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a chat with mates, as long as you're okay with its rougher edges – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is lovely and cosy, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed evening with friends.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always making you feel right at home.
  • They serve a cracking selection of beers and an absolutely brilliant Sunday roast that's well worth the visit.
  • It's brilliantly dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry mate along without any fuss.
  • There's a great lineup of events like quiz nights, live music, and happy hours to keep things lively and fun.
Cons
  • The dog smell can be a bit off-putting at times, even though it's expected in a dog-friendly place.
  • It can get a tad noisy outside, which might make it hard to have a proper chat on busier days.
  • Food options are sometimes limited, like just roasts on Sundays, so it might not suit everyone looking for variety.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Elm Park Tavern and had an overall delightful experience, rating it four out of five stars. The ambience was cosy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening out. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring our needs were met without being intrusive. The menu offered an ok menu but room for improvement

It's a pleasant little local, it serves good beers (I had Timothy Taylor's Landlord - I assume it's a free house, by the way) and the staff are friendly and helpful. We were there for the Sunday Lunch, which was limited to roasts, but which was thoroughly good. Also very good value - £20 for duck confit roast? - that'll do for me!

The food itself was lovely. But the smell of dogs kinds of puts you off a little bit however it is of course a dog friendly pub so that's to be expected. Nice atmosphere overall but a bit too noisy outside.

I recently had the pleasure of bringing my family, who were visiting for the holidays, to a local pub for their Sunday roast, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The Sunday roast was absolutely exceptional — perfectly cooked meats, crispy roast potatoes, and all the trimmings, topped off with rich, flavorful gravy. It was clear that a lot of care and attention went into every detail. Even my family, who can be a bit picky when it comes to food, couldn’t stop raving about how delicious everything was. This pub really went above and beyond to make our holiday meal special, and I can’t thank them enough for creating such a memorable experience for my family. I truly wish them all the best for the future because they absolutely deserve it. We’ll definitely be back!
