About This Pub

Ah, Ego at The Forest – it's one of those places in Bromsgrove that just feels like a reliable go-to for a good meal and a chat. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is genuinely excellent; folks rave about things like the calamari fritti and that Mediterranean soup, which sounds like a real winner for a starter. The staff are always on point, being super friendly and quick to sort you out, which makes the whole experience that bit more enjoyable. Plus, with deals like two courses for £30 for two, it's a smart pick if you're after value without skimping on quality. On the downside, though, some prices feel a touch steep – like soft drinks costing as much as a pint – and the outdoor seating in the carpark isn't quite the picturesque spot you'd dream of for al fresco dining. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening, but it's worth weighing up the costs to make sure it suits your plans. I'd say give it a try if you're in the area; it's got that warm, community feel that makes pub visits memorable.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely spot on – think tasty starters like calamari fritti and hearty mains that really hit the mark, leaving you feeling satisfied.
  • Service is top-notch with friendly and attentive staff who make you feel welcome, ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
  • They've got great value offers, like two courses for £30 for two people, which makes it a brilliant choice for a budget-friendly night out.
  • The atmosphere is lovely and relaxing, perfect for catching up with friends over a meal or a drink in the separate bar area.
  • Portion sizes are generous, so you get plenty on your plate without feeling short-changed.
Cons
  • Drinks can be a bit pricey, especially soft ones like Pepsi, which might surprise you if you're not going for the alcoholic options.
  • The outdoor seating is in the carpark area, which isn't as inviting as you'd hope and could feel a tad underwhelming on a nice day.
  • Overall, it might come across as a little expensive for the quality, particularly if you're watching your wallet on a regular basis.

Food is excellent and the service matched. The atmosphere here is relaxing and welcoming the staff are all friendly. Thee is a separate bar area with seating available so you can wait for your friends. There is some outdoor seating in the carpark area but as the location of the establishment is on the junction of a very busy roundabout which feeds the M42 it's not the quietest or most relaxing area.

A friend and I had a lovely meal at Ego in Bromsgrove. I particularly enjoyed the calamari fritti starter, which was beautifully cooked and there was plenty of it. We had the dine offer of 2 people, 2 courses for £30 and it was excellent value for money. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was great and the staff (particularly Emma who looked after us) were very attentive and happy to help. Lovely evening and will definitely be back soon, thank you :)

Lovely Sunday lunch and great value for 2 courses. The Mediterranean soup was probably the nicest soup I’ve had! Kids make your own pizza was a hit with my daughter! 😊 Service was quick and very attentive.

Had a meal here on a busy Saturday night. Service was excellent and fast. Food was nice but rather pricey for the quality. Generous portion sizes though so can’t complain. Only bad thing was I ordered Pepsi Max rather than a pint of cider and was shocked to find a Pepsi is the same price as a cider at £4:65! Not great for the drivers who drink pop. Next time I’ll have a pint

It was around 4.30 on a Saturday afternoon when we went for a meal, we hadn't booked a table but got seated straight away. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and helpful. There's loads of parking but remember to sign in with your car registration when you go in as it's one of those places that's becoming increasingly common that will hit you with a big fine if it's not done this is a shame as it spoils what would be a great place if you forget! Great food, great place with great service but shame about the carpark.
