About This Pub

Ah, The Hop Pole Inn – it's one of those unassuming pubs that just draws you in with its warm, welcoming feel. I've got to say, the beer selection is spot on; they stock some brilliant real ales and local brews that make every visit feel like a treat, and being in The Good Beer Guide is a real badge of honour. The live music on weekends is an absolute highlight – think cracking bands that get everyone up and dancing, creating that lively buzz you crave after a long week. The staff are dead friendly too, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after. On the downside, it does fill up quickly during events, so if you're hoping for a quiet corner, you might end up jostling for space or standing for a bit, which isn't ideal for all. Still, it's a solid choice for a fun night with mates, as long as you plan ahead and embrace the energy. All in all, it's got that classic pub charm with a few quirks, making it worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of real ales and local brews that really hit the spot, like the Wye Valley HPA or their own Hop Till You Drop – perfect for a proper pint
  • Lively live music and events, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, which create a buzzing atmosphere and make for a memorable night out
  • Friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome, adding to that cosy local vibe
  • Affordable prices that keep things accessible, so you can enjoy a great evening without it costing a fortune
Cons
  • It can get pretty packed during live shows, making it tricky to find a seat or move around comfortably
  • Limited space and seating might not suit everyone, especially if you're after a relaxed spot or have mobility needs
  • No quiz nights on offer at the moment, which could disappoint if you're looking for that kind of midweek fun

Nice little local pub. Choice of real ales, ciders and lagers. Beer was good and staff were freindly. Not been on an evening but I hear they have live entertainment on a Saturday night.

Good to find an old street corner local selling Bromsgrove brewed Woodcote ales - classic ales at rock bottom prices.

Great place for live music and fabulous beer . Saw Stuart from Legends here a few moths back ( great band by the way ) People friendly and the beer is excellent. All in all a very nice friendly pub .

Nice little place but be aware this is a small place and gets very full during live shows. I'm not a regular so cannot comment on other entertainment but the band that was on seemed good. There is limited seating so for persons who cannot stand for long periods or in a wheel chair have issues to find a suitable comfortable place.
