About This Pub
Ah, the Eagle & Child, it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its timber-clad charm and that feel-good vibe from the moment you walk through the door. I've got to say, the staff really shine here; they're so attentive and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates, especially on a busy day like Mother's Day when they're juggling everything but still manage to deliver amazing service. The food's a real highlight too – those pies and pub favourites are hearty and tasty, perfect paired with a pint of Joseph Holt's award-winning brews in the lovely beer garden overlooking the bowling green. It's brilliant for families or a casual night out with live music and quizzes to keep things lively. But, let's be fair, it's not flawless; there have been a few hiccups with bookings, like that time someone had a mix-up over bringing a dog, which left things a bit frosty. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for anyone in Manchester looking for good value and a welcoming spot – I'd pop in again in a heartbeat, just maybe give them a ring ahead to sort any details.

Great pub..friendly atmosphere and live music..
A warm welcome from Casper the dog when we arrived on a Saturday lunch, less so from the landlady who said we should have let her know we had a dog in tow - we had on the booking, but that clearly hadn't made it through to the staff working that day. Pleasant enough place and had quick service for the lunch we ordered; there were lots of beers I would have loved to try, but was driving - I'm sure they'd have been better than the coffee I had! The food was all reasonable and cooked fresh. It filled up very quickly for a Saturday lunch, but not surprising given there was a lunchtime match being shown.
Wonderful first experience! The family were craving pub grub so we tried the Eagle & Child and were not disappointed! The staff were so lovely and friendly and the food was absolutely delicious! Highly reccomend for a nice day out!
We will definitely be dining here again!
