About This Pub

You know, chatting about Dukes in Leith, it's one of those places that really hits the mark for a fun evening out. The wings are a standout – think perfectly succulent bites with crunchy coatings and loads of sauce choices, paired with sides like creamy slaw or loaded fries that make for a proper treat. The staff are genuinely warm and helpful, always up for a chat and dishing out advice on the drinks, which include some cracking local brews and cocktails at fair prices. It's got that energetic sports bar feel with big screens showing all the action, ideal if you're catching a game with mates. On the downside, it can be a tad subdued if you pop in when it's not busy, and with doors not opening until 4pm on weekdays, it's more suited to evenings than daytime stops. All in all, it's a solid choice in Edinburgh for good times and great grub, though it might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're after something quieter.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The wings are absolutely spot on – juicy, crispy, and packed with flavour, made from locally sourced chicken with a great range of sauces.
  • Friendly and knowledgeable staff who make you feel right at home, offering drink recommendations and even samples of the more unique brews.
  • A fantastic selection of drinks, including local beers, craft options, and cocktails, all at reasonable prices that won't break the bank.
  • Brilliant atmosphere for watching live sports on big screens, with the sound on and a mix of games from football to F1, making it a lively spot for a night out.
  • Varied menu with tasty options like loaded fries, burgers, and even vegan wings, plus fun extras like games to keep things entertaining.
Cons
  • It can feel a bit quiet during off-peak hours, so if you're after a buzzing crowd, you might want to time your visit right.
  • Opens late on weekdays at 4pm, which means it's not the best for a quick lunch or early meet-up.
  • The strong focus on sports and American-style vibes might not appeal if you're in the mood for a more relaxed or traditional pub experience.

Great selection of locally brewed drinks and some awesome food! We visited this past weekend & had a warm and friendly greeting, with great knowledge and advice for drinks, as well as offering samples of some of the more unique drinks. We stayed for a few drinks and also ordered food, the sharing plate of fries was huge and absolutely full of flavor! It's also Dog Friendly, so that was very handy too. Love the decor inside too, it's like the inside of my mind popping out onto the walls 😅

A small pub with a soul and also with very tasty beer, which is not found in usual pubs. Types of beer change, which cannot but please. Usually there is NeIPA, which I really like. Also very tasty food!

Excellent chicken wings - best in Leith. They benefitted from the billed 24 hour brine as the meat was perfectly succulent and housed in a crunchy coating. The pickles were well balanced between sweet and acidic, which complimented the wings well. You can choose from a range of sauces or dry rubs with the chipotle sour cream being selected on this occasion; it brought a pleasing lactic tang and touch of heat. My partner had chicken tenders which were equally delicious. Good range of local craft beers and very friendly service

Visited here to take advantage of an Itison voucher. Wings were excellent, burgers were very nice also. Good selection of drinks and attentative staff. Bar itself was quiet when we were in, but there was a steady stream of delivery drivers picking up orders.
