About This Pub

Ah, the Duke on the Green – what a gem in Parsons Green! I've got to say, it's one of those pubs that just feels like home from the moment you walk in, with its rich history and that lovely overlook of the green. The atmosphere is spot on for everything from a relaxed Sunday lunch to a lively weekend gathering; it's got this warm, buzzing energy that makes you want to stay for another round. The food really steals the show too – their British classics, like the fish and chips or the Sunday roast, are made with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and there's even some innovative plant-based options to keep everyone happy. Plus, the staff are an absolute delight; tales of Talia and the manager making everyone feel right at home show just how much they care about a good experience. And hey, it's brilliant for bringing the dog along or planning a special event – they've got packages sorted for birthdays or match days. On the flip side, though, one review mentioned the Yorkshire pudding falling a bit short, which is a shame for such a classic dish, and the hours can be a bit unpredictable, so double-check if you're aiming for a late night. Overall, with a solid 4.4 rating from folks who've clearly had a blast, it's a top pick if you're in the area, but it's not without its little niggles. I'd pop in for a pint and see for yourself – you won't be disappointed!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's warm, lively, and just the right spot for a casual catch-up or a proper celebration, with that timeless charm of a historic Grade II listed building.
  • The food is a real winner; think cracking British pub classics like fish and chips or a top-notch Sunday roast, all made with seasonal, fresh produce that keeps things delicious and family-friendly.
  • Staff are brilliant – they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, with mentions of folks like Talia bringing fun energy and the manager keeping everything running smoothly.
  • It's super dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry mates along, and they've got a great selection of beers, cocktails, and spritzes that make for a cracking drink any time.
  • Perfect for events, whether it's a birthday bash or a lazy lunch, and the overall vibe is spot on for watching the big games or just enjoying good times with friends.
Cons
  • One thing that cropped up in a review was the Yorkshire pudding not quite hitting the mark, so if you're after a flawless roast, it might need a bit of tweaking.
  • The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, which could catch you out if you're planning a late one, as they typically wrap up around 11pm or earlier on some days.
  • With a moderate price level, it might feel a smidge pricey for everyday visits, especially if you're just popping in for a quick pint rather than a full meal.

🚇 Parsons Green 🍺 £6.60 Pravha The Duke on the Green is located on the southern edge of Parsons Green in southwest London. The nearest Tube is Parsons Green on the District Line. This stunning Grade II listed pub was built in 1892 and was originally named the Duke of Cumberland in honor of Ernest Augustus, son of George III. The exterior is quite magnificent with granite columns, leaded arched windows and glazed brown tiles. This stylish, one-bar, two-room pub blends classic Victorian charm with contemporary touches. The main bar area is located at the front, with the servery on the right-hand side, featuring ornate woodwork detailing. The bar is generously sized and offers plenty of mixed seating, an impressive period fireplace, hardwood floors, Corinthian columns, and a wall of stunning decorative Victorian tiles. The room behind the main bar is set aside for dining and features comfortable mix-and-match seating and colourful contemporary decor. This Young’s pub offers a selection of popular, well-known beers, plus some independent brews and two cask ales. I went with a Pravha—my pint hit the spot, price point was above average. The food menu features seasonal British classics, including Sunday roasts. For comparison, fish and chips costs £18.50. I arrived at 11:30 a.m. on a warm and sunny Saturday morning in May. The pub had only just opened and already had a few punters both inside and out. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, making it easy to settle in. The service was excellent—the team on duty were welcoming, friendly, and personable. I took a seat at one of the tables near the tiled wall and took in my surroundings while listening to an excellent soundtrack that included Joe Jackson’s Steppin’ Out. This was my second visit in recent months—the first during the Six Nations, when the pub was packed. This time was more relaxed, but I thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. It’s a classy pub with heritage tiling, a vibrant bar, quality beers, and classic seasonal cuisine. A must-visit London pub. Talia, one of the staff members, always goes above and beyond. She makes every customer feel welcome and brings such a fun, positive energy to the pub. She never fails to make people laugh and truly adds to the friendly atmosphere. Martian, the manager, is incredibly attentive and creates a warm and comfortable vibe throughout the venue. His knowledge of the food and wine list is outstanding. Exceptional service all around, Duke on the Green is lucky to have such a fantastic team!

Pleasant Sunday lunch at Duke on the Green, delicious food and relax atmosphere. Yorkshire pudding was the only thing I wanted to complain about. There's room for improvement.
