About This Pub
Ah, the Dog & Partridge – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper community hub, you know? I've heard from folks who've been going there for years, and it's clear why; the vibe is warm and inviting, whether you're popping in for a quick drink after work or settling in to watch the match. The food menu is packed with all the classics you'd expect, and from what I've seen in the reviews, it's generally spot on – think hearty Sunday lunches and options for the little ones that keep everyone happy. The staff really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, which is always a plus when you're out for a good time. On the flip side, it's a shame about the occasional slip-ups with the grub; a few mates mentioned things like cold chips or undercooked bits that took the shine off their meal. And while being dog-friendly is a nice touch, it can get a bit chaotic if some owners aren't keeping their furry companions in check. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night out, but maybe keep expectations in check and go for the outdoor seating if you're after a more relaxed experience – it's all about that balance to make the most of it!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing – perfect for a catch-up with mates, watching the game on TNT or Sky Sports, or even celebrating a special occasion like a birthday.
-
Food hits the spot with classic pub grub; plenty of positive mentions for amazing meals, and they've got options for everyone, including kids' menus, gluten-free choices, and even Sunday roasts.
-
Outdoor seating is a real winner, with a nice covered decked area that's great for a pint in the fresh air, and it's dog-friendly, which adds to the welcoming vibe.
-
Staff are top-notch and really make you feel at home; reviews rave about their friendliness and excellent service, like Julie who was called an absolute angel.
Cons
-
Some food inconsistencies crop up, like rock-hard roast potatoes or cold chips that might leave you a bit disappointed after a long day.
-
Irresponsible dog owners can spoil the fun, with a few reports of unruly pets causing issues in what should be a relaxed setting.
-
Portions or flavours don't always hit the mark, such as not enough barbecue sauce on the Hunters Chicken, which could make for a less satisfying meal.

Recent Reviews
Lovely pub, great atmosphere, and plenty of outdoor seating, including a nice raised decked area which is under cover. Have visited many many times over the past 39 years. However, now being a dog-friendly pub, the only problem we encountered recently was irresponsible dog owners allowing their dogs to run free (and unsupervised) in the enclosed outdoor area, therefore being free to to do their business without it being cleaned up by the respective owners. We witnessed one large dog roaming freely, peeing everywhere (scenting as they do), then dropping a pile next to the tree. This was not cleaned up by the couple with the dog, they just sat there leaving it to roam free. Sadly, these irresponsible dog owners reflect badly on the pub, which should be getting credit for being dog friendly, but is obviously being abused by a few lazy irresponsible people. Such a shame this happened, as would otherwise have been perfect. My personal opinion is that ALL dogs should be kept on a short lead at all times when on the premises - this would resolve such problems in most cases. Just my thoughts.
Had roast dinner. Plenty of beef, roast potato was rock hard. I had Hunters Chicken, chicken was suculent, not enough babacue sauce, chips were cold and looked like they were what was left over from the day service.
Staff were very pleasent.
Food amazing. Atmosphere great. Julie our server? Absolute angel.
Enjoyed the food, Had a starter main and dessert. Service was great. Will come again!
We've had such a wonderful time for our sons 13th Birthday. Helen and the team made us feel so welcome, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic. We can't wait to pop in again soon.
