About This Pub

You know, when I think about Desi Yew Tree, it really stands out as one of those hidden gems in Wolverhampton that blends the cosy feel of a local pub with the flavours of top-notch Indian cooking. From what I've gathered from the buzz online and those enthusiastic reviews, the food is where it truly shines – imagine tucking into a hearty Himalayan chicken curry or those legendary lamb chops that folks can't stop talking about; it's all so full of flavour and leaves you feeling chuffed. The team there are proper welcoming too, always on hand to make sure everything's just right, which adds to that warm, homely vibe. And let's not forget, it's all at prices that won't dent your wallet, making it ideal for a midweek treat or a weekend wind-down. On the flip side, though, it's a bit of a faff if you're not in a big group, as they only take bookings for larger crowds, so you might end up queuing or missing out on a table. Plus, the opening times can look a tad confusing with those varying schedules, so it's wise to plan ahead. All in all, if you're after a spot that delivers on delicious desi dishes and good value, it's worth a visit – just go with an open mind and maybe check the details first to get the full experience without any hitches.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot-on, with standout Indian dishes like those Himalayan curries and crispy pakoras that have everyone raving
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in
  • Prices are dead reasonable for the quality, so you can enjoy a proper meal without breaking the bank
  • It's got a lovely atmosphere, perfect for a casual night out or even a family gathering, with that mix of pub vibes and delicious grub
  • High marks overall, with plenty of glowing feedback on the tasty mixed grills and grills that keep folks coming back
Cons
  • Bookings are only accepted for large groups, which might leave you out in the cold if you're just popping in with a couple of mates
  • The operating hours seem a bit muddled from what I've seen, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointment
  • As it's more focused on Indian cuisine, it might not suit everyone if you're after a traditional pub experience with standard ales and snacks
