About This Pub
You know, chatting about The Dog and Doublet feels like sharing stories over a pint with mates – it's got that classic pub charm that's hard to beat on a good night. The place really shines with its energetic atmosphere, particularly during karaoke or after-parties where the staff go the extra mile to make sure everyone's having a blast, taking requests and keeping the music flowing. It's one of those spots where you can lose yourself in the crowd, dancing to tunes that feel just right, and I've heard plenty of folks rave about how welcoming it can be. But, let's be straight, it's not all roses; there are times when things turn a bit dodgy with some overzealous characters stirring up bother, which might leave you wanting to call it a night early. Still, with an overall solid rating, it's worth popping in if you're up for some fun in Wolverhampton, just keep an eye out for the occasional hiccup and maybe steer clear if you're after something more laid-back. All in all, it's a gem with a few rough edges, making it a place you'd recommend with a cheeky caveat to your pals.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially on karaoke nights – it's full of energy and makes for a right good laugh.
-
The staff are top-notch and really engaging; they've got a knack for making you feel welcome and even taking song requests to keep the party going.
-
It's a brilliant spot for music lovers, with a crowd that gets into the groove, dancing and enjoying the tunes like old mates.
Cons
-
It can get a bit rowdy at times, with some folks causing unnecessary trouble that might put a dampener on your evening out.
-
The vibe seems to have shifted lately, and it's not as inviting for a quiet daytime pint anymore, which is a shame for those after a relaxed session.
-
There are mixed experiences with the crowd; some nights feel off, like when disagreements escalate and force you to head elsewhere.

There Thursday evening for karaoke night. Brill atmosphere.
Used to be a great venue. Went on Saturday night with a few mates, most of us 40+. Full of jumped up idiots wanting a fight, one in particular thought a lot of himself and caused a bit of trouble with a mate for no reason, would love to have wiped the floor with him. We drank up and moved on, probably wouldn't rush to go back.
Used to be a decent ale pub, which had a late night DJ. However. Seems to have changed, and they no longer want the day time ale drinkers. I recently popped in for a couple ales here with a mate bit got turned away had to go the (black country ales) tavern which was full, so moved on to the posada (which also had a fair few folk in).
Felt really disappointed, as this was a nice pub.
Dropped in here before a gig at the Halls with my sister. Excellent barmen, nice crowd, every song you love comes on like magic ;-). After party even better, dance with like minded music lovers. They take requests...i had several. Only forgot to put on World Party by World Party (next time eh)....much underrated song on an underrated album, Private Revolution. Look forward to returning guys, this is how pubs should be👏
Absolutely amazing! Would 100% recommend. Georgie was amazing 😍 she's amazing
