About This Pub

Ah, the Crown – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Burton upon Trent. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff really go the extra mile to make you feel at home; folks like Clive and the team are always on hand with a smile and a chat, which makes popping in for a drink feel like you're among friends. The beer garden is a highlight on a sunny day, offering that perfect al-fresco vibe to relax with a cold one, and they've got an impressive lineup of events – think spooky Halloween do's and festive Christmas setups – that keep things lively and engaging for all ages. The drink selection is spot on too, with a great variety of gins, beers, and more to suit any taste. On the flip side, it's moderately priced, so if you're watching the pennies, it might not be the bargain basement option, and with doors opening at midday, it's more suited to afternoon and evening gatherings rather than early starts. Overall, it's a solid spot for a good time, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area for some relaxed fun and a bit of community spirit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • They've got a lovely beer garden that's perfect for enjoying a pint outdoors when the weather's playing nice.
  • Loads of fun events throughout the year, like Halloween specials and Christmas decorations, which really add to the buzz and make it a great spot for families and groups.
  • A cracking selection of drinks, from tasty gins and wines to a solid range of beers and spirits, so there's something for everyone.
  • The pub is spotlessly clean and has a really welcoming atmosphere, with live entertainment that turns a quiet evening into a proper night out.
Cons
  • It's moderately priced, which might stretch the budget a bit if you're after a cheap night out.
  • Opening hours start from midday, so it's not the place for an early breakfast or a quick morning catch-up.

I always have such a warm welcome from Clive, Val and all the team at the Crown pub when I go to entertain. They put in so much effort throughout the year to create magical and fun experiences for all the families and children to enjoy. Including:- Easter events, The spooky Halloween spectacular and also the Christmas parties too. A huge well done to all the team for creating such fun, community events that local people and visitors can all enjoy! I’ve given 5 stars across the board because from everyone Ive spoken to over the years, and my personal experiences too, the food is brilliant, the service is always lovely and the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming.

A very pleasant experience with very helpful staff ! Wide range of activities at all times of the year ! If you are into your gin then that's the place to visit as well as wide range of wines , beers and spirits . A very warm and welcoming environment . A must see is the Christmas decorations ! Halloween 🎃 is a must see as well " they do a children's party " 🥳 not sure what day or time is yet ! They lost there best bar maid and only the landlord knows the reason why ! Could say a lot more but like him to much to do that . Prices have just gone up and up that's not him ! Still love the pub with great friends and all pubs are struggling .

Always had a warm welcome when visiting the Crown pub. The staff are very friendly, inviting and professional. The pub is always clean- no glasses left on tables for ages. The atmosphere is really good. I often go on a Friday night when there is an entertainer on- which is a great night. It's a lovely pub to gather at with friends and family.😀
