About This Pub

Ah, the Leopard Inn in Burton-on-Trent – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper neighbourhood gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the landlord is an absolute star, always up for a laugh and making sure everyone feels right at home, which really sets a warm tone for the evening. There's a brilliant pool table and some retro games in the back that add a fun twist, and don't forget the garden – it's spot on for those sunny days when you fancy a pint outdoors. They've got live music events that sound like a blast, especially if you're into ska and reggae. On the flip side, it's a shame the beer choices are a bit limited, just the usual lagers without any real ales, which is a letdown in a town with such a rich brewing history. The decor is pretty straightforward too, nothing to write home about, and the food doesn't seem to impress much. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up with friends if you're after good company and entertainment, but you might want to keep expectations in check for the drinks and grub.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The landlord is incredibly friendly and really makes you feel welcome, like chatting with an old mate
  • Fantastic atmosphere with a lovely pool table and even retro games for a bit of fun
  • They've got a great garden that's perfect for enjoying a summer afternoon or evening
  • Live music nights, especially ska and reggae, sound absolutely brilliant and add to the lively vibe
Cons
  • The beer selection is a bit disappointing, mostly lagers and standard options with no real ales on offer
  • The decor feels quite bland and forgettable, nothing that really stands out or adds character
  • Food options seem underwhelming based on what I've heard, so it might not be the best spot for a proper meal

The Leopard Inn is a forgettable neighbourhood boozer in Burton-upon-Trent. In a town full of good, even remarkable real ale and micropubs, the Leopard Inn simply falls short: No real ales on offer when I visited, only lagers and the usual roster of standards. The decor is very bland and on the grubby side. As inviting as it looks from outside, skip this one and visit the lovely real ale pub The Dog, which is just a one minute from this place.
