About This Pub

Ah, Copt Oak in Markfield, what a lovely spot it is for a relaxed pint or a hearty meal with mates or the family. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show; folks rave about the steaks being spot-on delicious and the burgers and roasts hitting all the right notes, especially with those tempting offers like 30% off mains. The staff come across as genuinely friendly and attentive, with little extras that make you feel looked after, like interacting with the kids or helping out in the garden. That beer garden overlooking the old church is just idyllic for a sunny afternoon catch-up. On the flip side, it's not all perfect – I've heard a couple of tales where service lagged a bit, like being ignored at the door or minor niggles with the food, such as something being a touch dry. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.3, it's clear the good far outweighs the bad. If you're heading out for a pub crawl or a family dinner, I'd say give it a go; it's got that warm, traditional feel that makes you want to linger, just maybe keep an eye on the timing to avoid any busy patches.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think juicy steaks, tasty burgers, and proper roasts that leave you wanting more, with some great deals like 30% off mains to boot.
  • Staff are always friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, and they even go the extra mile with little touches for families.
  • The beer garden is a real gem, overlooking a beautiful old church, perfect for enjoying a pint and some grub in the sunshine.
  • It's a proper traditional village pub with a cosy atmosphere, and it's super family-friendly with a separate kids' menu and even welcomes muddy paws.
  • They've got well-kept real ales and a wide range of drinks, plus the option to book online or just pop in spontaneously.
Cons
  • Service can sometimes fall short, like when you're left waiting at the door or have to chase for orders, which puts a bit of a dampener on things.
  • A few dishes might not hit the mark every time, such as the pork being a tad dry in one case, though it's not a deal-breaker.
  • It might get busy, so if you're after a quiet spot, you could end up waiting or feeling a bit overlooked.

We have been here three times in the last couple of months. The food is brilliant. I have never had such delicious steaks! Thank you chef! The staff are friendly and helpful. I would recommend to anyone!!! Can’t wait to go back!

A member of staff welcomed us and interacted with my 7 year old, getting him to help identify the booking on the system and subsequently find our reserved table which was a nice touch. The service was good, we were not left waiting at all. The food was nice and we even all chose to have a pudding which does not happen often. This was our first visit to the Copt Oak but we would definitely return.

I received a couple of vouchers through the door so decided to find this place and glad I did! Pub grub done brilliantly! I opted for the mixed grill and my only criticism was the pork was a little dry (not inedible) but those sausages - yum!!! The beer garden looked amazing so will certainly be back.

Went for a midweek meal. Poor from literally the moment we stepped through the door. Despite multiple staff seeing us stood at the reception 'please wait to be seated' area we were totally ignored. It was the barman who eventually came to attend to us. We sat and looked at the menu. Went to order at the bar. Almost all of the specials werent available. Eventually ordered. I also tried to order a side of green veg. It was like i was speaking in a different language and asking for the crown jewels. Food came and here lays the final piece of miserable service. Food delivered. Instructed to "enjoy our meals" to which was impossible without being given cutlery. Needless to say i had to fetch it and condiments. Oh and a few mins later a solitary "mushroom" in a bowl of its own turned up with the comment... "they forgot this".... What a joke. Overpriced for the amounts presented thats for sure. That being said the meals were no more than reasonable. Hadnt been here in years. No amount of refurbishments and 30% off coupons can make up for poor service and ignorance. Definately never again.
