About This Pub
Ah, Charnwood Arms, what a gem for those days when you fancy a proper pub crawl without straying too far from home. I've got to say, the staff really steal the show here; they're cheerful and attentive, always checking in to make sure you're sorted, just like in those glowing reviews from folks like Pete and Ian. The food's another winner – think delicious, no-fuss meals that hit the spot, especially with those wallet-friendly deals that let you feast without breaking the bank. It's got all the right touches for a family outing too, with a beer garden and outdoor play area to keep everyone happy, and it's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out with your four-legged friend. On the flip side, being part of a chain means it has that familiar pub feel, but it might not wow you with anything particularly unique or innovative on the menu – it's more about reliable classics than fancy twists. Plus, it can get a bit bustling at times, and if you're after a quiet corner or something more exclusive, you might find it a tad lively. All in all, though, it's a welcoming spot that's earned its stripes with solid service and a cheerful atmosphere, so I'd definitely recommend popping in for a pint and a bite – you won't be disappointed, but keep expectations realistic for a standard pub day out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are an absolute delight – friendly, chatty, and always going the extra mile, like Millie and Abbie who make you feel right at home with their bubbly personalities.
-
The food is spot on; it's tasty, piping hot, and leaves you with empty plates every time, plus there are great deals like tucking into selected dishes for just a tenner on weekdays.
-
It's super family-friendly with facilities like a beer garden, outdoor play area, and even dog-friendly vibes, making it perfect for a relaxed day out with the little ones or your furry mate.
-
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, ideal for unwinding after a long day, and it's conveniently located near places like Twycross Zoo for a quick pit stop.
-
With affordable prices and a solid 4.1 rating from plenty of folks, it's a reliable spot for good value and a proper pub experience.
Cons
-
As a chain pub, it might lack that unique local charm you'd find in an independent spot, so if you're after something a bit more quirky, it could feel a tad generic.
-
The menu sticks to classic pub grub, which is great if you fancy the standards, but it might not excite those looking for more adventurous or gourmet options.
-
It can get busy, especially with families and groups, so you might have to wait a bit for a table or deal with a lively crowd on peak days.
-
Opening hours wrap up fairly early at around 11:30pm, which is fine for a relaxed evening but not ideal if you're hoping for a late-night session.

Came in for a meal with the family. Was promptly seated on arrival and was served quickly on bar by Abbie. She was an absolute delight and got us out drinks super quick. Very lovely and bubbly girl. Food was excellent. Great place to come eat.
Serving tasty meals and service with a smile, especially from Abbie who cleared our table once we had eaten. Top marks all round, and will we return? Try stopping us. Thanks to all the staff for providing such a warm and friendly atmosphere. 😁
We eat here on a regular basis and find the experience very nice. The staff are lovely, polite, and very helpful. They do as much as they can to make our eating experience the best they can make it. along with the manager. I have never had a problem with the food. It has always been delicious, and there is plenty on the plate and alay arrives hot. Pub restaurant food and a few specials the menu has good selection. And the parking is good.
Lovely meal this evening. Our waitress, Millie, was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. She was very professional, and super friendly with us, especially my daughters. Food was great! Empty plates all around. We didn’t have to wait too long for the food, and it was lovely and hot. We can’t wait to come back. Please pass on our thanks to Millie for making it a pleasurable evening.
