About This Pub

Ah, Lollard's Pit – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its welcoming feel and rich history, tucked away in the heart of Norwich. I love how the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel at ease, and the range of real ales is spot on for a proper pub experience, especially if you're chatting with mates over a pint in that lovely outdoor terrace on a sunny day. The events like the pub quiz and bingo nights really add to the community spirit, making it a great spot for a laugh and some friendly competition. On the flip side, it's a shame it's shut on Mondays and the hours are a bit late-starting, so it might not be ideal if you're after an early drink or a hearty meal – it's more focused on drinks and that historic charm. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening, and I'd say it's worth popping in if you're in the area, as long as you keep those little niggles in mind.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of real ales and ciders on tap, perfect for anyone who appreciates a good pint.
  • The historical Tudor architecture creates such a cosy and atmospheric vibe, like stepping back in time while enjoying a drink.
  • There's a lovely outside terrace that's ideal for soaking up the sunshine with friends and a cold beverage.
  • They host brilliant events like Liam's pub quiz on Wednesdays and free pool on Tuesdays, adding a fun community spirit to the place.
  • Prices are spot on, comparable to other city centre pubs, so you won't break the bank for a night out.
Cons
  • It's closed on Mondays, which might put a damper on plans if you're looking for a mid-week pint.
  • Opening hours are mostly in the evenings, so it might not suit those wanting a daytime spot for a casual drink.
  • From what I've seen, food options seem limited – it's more about the drinks and atmosphere, so if you're after a full meal, you might need to look elsewhere.

Lovely historical pub with a nice outside terrace area. Fantastic place to sit in the sunshine and have a few drinks. The staff were friendly and attentive and drinks prices were comparable to other city centre pubs.

This was a glorious pub for drinking, keeping its ancient Tudor architecture! The ceiling and pillars show its magnificent foundation, windows are lovely with their curtains too. The counter is well-presented and staff were lovely, seating is cosy. Table was very clean and they had a range of ciders on tap, I enjoyed the Rhubarb one!

Well the history was that witches used to be burnt here! Must visit for the aura and the view. Did not have food, but the crips are totally worth it

After visiting and exploring Norwich I though it’s time to stop and have a good pint of beer, the bar staff was very friendly and welcoming and very good choice of beers and ales, the prices were very good and they have great siting area outside. It was very nice to have a cold drink and peaceful and quiet outside area. Plenty of space for sitting inside and outside.
