About This Pub

You know, when you step into the Coach and Horses, it's like walking into a classic British pub that's been around forever – they've got that timeless charm going on, and it's been home to Chalk Hill Brewery since way back. I love how the staff are always up for a chat and make everyone feel right at home, whether you're there for a quick pint or catching up with mates. The beers are top drawer, with a great range of award-winning ales that pair nicely with their simple pub grub, and it's brilliant that they welcome dogs with open arms. It's in such a lively area, just by the train station and football ground, so it's perfect for popping in after a journey or a game. On the downside, while the food's generally good, there have been a few mentions of it not being quite perfect, like a dry sausage in one breakfast, so maybe stick to the drinks if you're fussy. All in all, it's a cracking spot for a laid-back evening; you'd have a right good time there, and with that high rating, it's clear most folks agree.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and always make you feel welcome, which really adds to the cosy atmosphere.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of their own Chalk Hill Brewery ales, plus other beers and ciders that are spot on for any ale enthusiast.
  • It's dog-friendly with treats and water on offer, making it a great spot if you're out with your furry mate.
  • The location is brilliant, just a short walk from Norwich train station and near the football stadium, ideal for a quick pint after travels or a match.
  • The pub has a lovely traditional vibe with outdoor seating that's perfect for sunny days, and it's accommodating for groups and events.
Cons
  • There might be the odd slip-up with food, like one person noting a sausage was a bit dry in their breakfast, so it might not be flawless every time.
  • With its popularity, it could get quite busy, especially near the station or during events, which might make it harder to find a seat.

We always seem to end up here for the railway meet ups, either leaving dos or retirements. C&H are always very accommodating of us and we always have a really good time. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the pub has a really good vibe.

A lovely spot to chill out on a sunny day or inside the nice traditional boozer inside on a rainy or cold day. They have a nice selection of drinks. The staff are very friendly, the outside area is very cool with large shades that can be drawn. The building itself almost looks like it would fit in New Orleans. We tried the beef taco's (soft shell) and the Burger dirty fries both were delicious. A great pub, not far from the train station.

This pub always has a great feeling about it. Food is always good when I've eaten but I stick to simple dishes. Great selection of beers and they offer cider flavour drops. Dogs welcome so that's a plus for someone who loves them.

Came in for a lunch time treat and a few of us had the breakfast. The bacon was excellently cooked and the beans were nice and thick with the addition of garlic. The young lady who I went with has a lot of experience with foot long sausages and thought the it was a little dry. Although the girth, length and shape was pretty decent. I thought the bacon jam was a unwelcome addition, would have been nice if it was warm. The black pudding was very tasty but probably needed to be a little crispier. The sourdough bread was what I would say “crispy”, if you did not have teeth it would be extremely difficult to eat. Luckily I do so was ok. It was a nice breakfast though Others had the chicken sarnie which they thought was 8/10 with the nice homemade chips

Great little traditional pub with their own real ale brewery and a good selection of other ales and beers to boot. The food menu looks good although I have not tried it. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Only 5mins walk from Norwich railway station . They seem to have a regular darts team. Real wood fired pizzas at special times
