About This Pub

Ah, Cleary’s – what a spot for anyone craving that authentic Irish pub feel without straying too far from Birmingham. From what I've gathered from the reviews and the buzz around it, it's got this brilliant atmosphere with live traditional music that just pulls you in for a singalong or a quiet pint. The Guinness is poured to perfection and at prices that won't break the bank, like grabbing two for £10, which feels like a win on a night out. Folks rave about the friendly staff and that cosy fireplace, making it ideal for a relaxed evening or even nipping out to the outdoor seating when the sun's out. On the flip side, it's a wee bit out of the way from the city centre, so you might end up with sore feet if you're wandering over, and apparently the pool table's seen better days, which could be a letdown if you're up for some games. Overall, with a solid 4.4 rating from heaps of reviews, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time, but do keep an eye on those opening times to avoid any surprises. If you're into Irish culture and a proper pub crawl, I'd say give it a go – it's got that heartwarming charm that'll have you coming back for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The traditional Irish music really sets the mood and makes for a cracking night out with friends.
  • Guinness is spot on and reasonably priced – you can get two pints for just £10, which is a bargain these days.
  • The warm hospitality from the staff creates a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a cosy chat over a pint.
  • That roaring fireplace adds a lovely touch, especially on a chilly evening, and there's plenty of outdoor seating for when the weather's nice.
Cons
  • It's a bit of a trek from the city centre, so you might need to plan your walk if you're coming from Birmingham's main spots.
  • The pool table could do with some fixing up, which might put a dampener on things if you're in the mood for a game.
  • The operating hours seem a tad confusing with varying times listed, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.

Absolutely lovely place, came in for a pint and we were welcomed by a lovely fire, good music, and a great atmosphere! Really good drink prices (2 pints of Guinness for £10) and perfectly poured (had taken a safety sip in the picture above!). Will definitely be back!

This was the first pub on our Digbeth pub trail. We popped in for some Guinness early doors around midday. Lovely roaring fireplace, proper fire that you don't really see too often these days! Friendly bar staff, nice Irish décor and lots of outdoor seating space. Lovely little traditional themed pub!
