About This Pub

Ah, the Charter Table Table – it's one of those pubs that you pop into for a relaxed meal and end up chatting about later with your mates. From what I've gathered, the staff really shine here; they're super friendly and have a knack for making you feel right at home, like that chap Harry who's got a cracking sense of humour. The food's another highlight – think tasty dishes that arrive promptly, with brilliant deals that make it easy on the wallet, especially if you're treating the family with those kids-eat-free offers. It's got that warm, welcoming atmosphere that's just right for unwinding after a long day. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses. Service can be a bit of a mixed bag; sometimes you have to go hunting for someone to sort you out when you arrive, which feels a touch disorganised. And then there are the times when parts of the menu are off-limits, or the portions don't quite hit the spot, leaving you wishing for a bit more bang for your buck. Overall, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in Aylesbury and fancy a straightforward pub experience – just keep your expectations in check for those little niggles, and you'll likely have a grand time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and full of personality – Harry's sense of humour really makes the place feel welcoming and fun.
  • Food is generally tasty and comes out quickly, with great value deals like mains from just £5, perfect for a budget-friendly bite.
  • It's family-friendly with perks like kids eating free, making it a top choice for gatherings with the little ones.
  • The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, especially with offers on drinks and a solid selection of pub classics.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit awkward at times, like having to track down someone to seat you instead of a smooth welcome.
  • Some menu items are often unavailable, which might leave you scrambling for alternatives.
  • Portion sizes feel a tad small for the price, so you might leave still feeling a bit peckish.
  • It can get inconsistent – even when it's quiet, things don't always run as smoothly as you'd hope.

Me and my sisters went for dinner this evening and were greeted by sam sorry john no Harry. He was super friendly with a cracking sense of humour. The restaurant is due to close for a refurb tomorrow and he was very apologetic about the things which werent available on the menu. Definitely some of the best service we have had, he made our night and ensured that we were OK, He deserves a medal for managing and entertaining us the way he did, We need more Harry's in our restaurants. Food was lovely and well priced, will definitely be visiting again once it re opens 😊

Came for dinner whilst visiting family. We had booked in advance, although it was quiet so I don't think we needed to. We were greeted and seated very quickly by Harry, who also took our orders for the evening. Service was quick, and although menu was limited there were plenty of options and food was nice. I must say, Harry was fantastic. It is so rare these days to get good service with a smile. Harry was attentive but not in our face and he was smiley and happy the entire time. He actually seemed happy to be at work, such a pleasant young man and made the visit more memorable. Thank you

Overall, a positive experience. I ordered the smothered platter and my wife had the Thai green curry. Both were hot and tasty and arrived quickly. The downside is that the process and service are awkward. When you arrive there is a podium but no one comes, so you go to the bar and they ask you to wait at the podium. Then, you don’t know whether you order at your table or at the bar. The service is functional. Although the bearded guy was better than the rest. Overall, positive, with some pieces still to fix. P.s. I’ve never seen a permanent ‘poster’ about poor availability. Odd. See picture.

When I visited it was very quiet but none the less the service was very good. Some of the menu was not available unfortunately meaning I had to change my order, so ended up with a hunters chicken style meal, I added an extra breast which I’m pleased I did because I felt portion size lacked a bit - a few more chips wouldn’t of hurt! However the chicken was very well cooked, very juicy /tasty, as was the bacon and cheese. There’s a large car park directly outside.

Lovely food, but service was poor. I went at lunch time on a week day which wasn't busy (only had one other party sat in the restaurant), but stood at the bar for ages waiting to be served. Finally when food was served it was very nice. The chips in particular were lovely and good quality. A massive downside is that the waitresses don't keep and eye on people after they are seated, therefore I had to get up each time I wanted more sauce, or wanted to pay my bill!! The lady who served me was very friendly however.
