About This Pub
Ah, Charlton Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Chilwell, near Nottingham, where you can pop in for a pint and end up having a grand old time. I love how the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, like you're catching up with pals rather than just another face in the crowd. The food's a real highlight too; think hearty, traditional dishes with portions that'll leave you satisfied, and it's all served in a relaxed setting that's perfect for families or groups enjoying a game of pool or darts. Plus, with all the sports on offer, it's an ace place to settle in for the match. On the flip side, it's a bit of a shame about the drinks – the selection doesn't have as much variety as you'd hope, especially if you're keen on exploring different ales, which might put off those after something more adventurous. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, but keeping an eye on expanding those options could make it even better for us all.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, just like chatting with old mates.
-
It's a brilliant spot for watching sports with all those Sky and TNT screens – perfect for a lively afternoon with friends.
-
The food is spot on, with generous portions of traditional pub grub that hits the spot every time.
-
Family-friendly vibe with fun games like pool and darts, making it a great place for a relaxed get-together.
-
Handy location near places like Wollaton Hall and Attenborough Nature Reserve, ideal for a pit stop after exploring.
Cons
-
The beer selection feels a bit limited, especially if you're after a wider choice of ales – it's mostly lagers and a couple of ciders.
-
Some might notice it hasn't quite lived up to expectations after any updates, with drink options not as varied as hoped.

Ellen and Richard are eome of the best landlords I ever met been coming here for a few year's and love the place looking forward to many more year's here
Was a great night last night, felt really welcoming and the new landlady has done a great job. The band was awesome. Great job to all involved. Has quietened down alot since my first night but there are still some decent regulars.
Went to this pub to see Filthy Contact playing. What a night. The bar staff were lovely as were the punters. The pub is well maintained and well priced. Will definitely be going again.
This was easily some of the best pub grub I've ever had. The portion sizes were generous, the taste was amazing, and there was very little on the menu I wouldn't want to try at some point. We had a garlic bread sharer platter between us, and truthfully if I'd had that again for the main course I wouldn't have considered it a wasted trip. Definitely worthwhile visiting this place. Some of the best food for miles around.
Expected a choice of ales, but no, still no choice. Cider is strongbow or old Rosie on draught. Just the usual super sweet choice in bottles sadly. If you want lager then all is well, loads of choice. Staff are nice enough as they always have been. It's ok but expected an improvement after a refit. A chance missed imo.
