About This Pub

Ah, the Charleston Arms – it's one of those neighbourhood pubs that just feels like a proper hideaway in Paisley, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are an absolute delight, always ready with a smile and a chat, which really sets the tone for a relaxed evening. The atmosphere is spot on, especially if you're up for some karaoke on the weekends; it's all about having a good time and sharing a laugh with whoever's around. And let's not forget the prices – they're dead reasonable, so you can enjoy a pint or two without worrying about the tab. On the other hand, a few folks have mentioned the ice tasting a bit off, which could spoil a drink here and there, and some drinks like cider might be a bit too sweet for those who prefer something more balanced. Then there's the Guinness, which gets poured a smidge too quickly at times, taking away from that smooth pour we all love. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a friendly spot for a drink and some entertainment, but it's worth keeping those little downsides in mind so you can make the most of your visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home, just like a warm welcome from old mates.
  • It's got a brilliant atmosphere, especially with the karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights – perfect for letting your hair down and having a good laugh.
  • Drinks are really affordable, with cheap beers like Guinness and Tennent's that won't break the bank, making it a great spot for a casual night out.
Cons
  • The ice has a bit of an odd taste, which might put you off if you're ordering drinks on the rocks.
  • Some drinks, like the cider, can be too sweet for certain tastes, so it might not hit the spot for everyone.
  • Guinness is poured a tad too fast sometimes, which can affect the quality, even if the prices are spot on.

Really cheap beer, fresh lines, but Guinness poured too fast but still nice. Prices 2019: Guinness £3, Carling £2.50, Tennent's £2.80. 35 ml measures. Malts £2.70.
