About This Pub
Ah, Balnagowan Arms, what a spot it is! I've got to say, from what I've heard and seen in the reviews, it's one of those pubs that just nails the basics and makes you feel glad you popped in. The staff are top-notch, always up for a laugh and quick with your order, which really sets the tone for a great night. The atmosphere is just spot on – think traditional cosy vibes with friendly locals having a chinwag, and sometimes a DJ spinning tunes to keep things lively. Prices are fair too, so you won't feel like you're splashing out unnecessarily, and it's brilliant that they welcome dogs, making it ideal for a walk followed by a pint. On the flip side, though, it's a no-food zone, which might leave you a bit peckish if you're hoping for pub grub. It does have that strong local feel, which is charming but could make it less appealing if you're not from the area or fancy something a bit more varied. All in all, if you're after a straightforward, welcoming pub experience in Paisley, it's worth checking out – just manage your expectations and maybe grab a snack beforehand!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's got a cracking atmosphere, with a traditional pub feel that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates or enjoying a pint.
-
Prices are spot on, offering great value without breaking the bank, which is always a winner for a night out.
-
Dog-friendly setup means you can bring your furry friend along, adding to the welcoming vibe.
-
The locals are chatty and make it feel like a proper community hub, with a DJ sometimes livening things up.
Cons
-
No food on offer, so if you're after a bite to eat with your drink, you'll have to head elsewhere.
-
It might come across as a bit too local for newcomers, as it's geared towards regulars and could feel a tad exclusive at times.
-
With no website or online presence to speak of, it's not the easiest to find out more before you visit, which is a shame.

Great Local pub for local people , served by local people owned by local people. Great prices. No food.
Great staff, great atmosphere, nice pints, friendly locals, and dog friendly...what's not to like..👍👍
Lovely little bar with a great atmosphere. The bar staff are amazing and very attentive. Highly recommend this little gem
To be fair, I've only been to this pub once when I was meeting my brother when he moved house recently. I was immediately at ease with a familiar feel for the type of pub that I enjoy. It was clearly full of regulars who were acknowledging each other with very friendly chat. There was a DJ adding to the early evening atmosphere. I'd like it if my brother was to make this a local that I'm sure to visit again. Oh.. and the two women behind the bar were efficient and a friendly.
Very welcoming traditional pub. The new owners Debbie and Steve have made this little gem sparkle again. There is a friendly bar area and a beautiful lounge area. This is must visit if you are in the area.
