About This Pub
Ah, Champy's Bradford Arms – it's one of those places that feels like a hidden gem in Walsall, serving up unique Indian and Nepalese dishes that blend herbs and spices in ways that'll get your taste buds dancing. From the reviews I've seen, it's spot on for a relaxed evening with friends, especially if you fancy something like their famous mixed grill or those crispy wings that folks rave about; the prices are fair too, and there's loads of space inside and out, plus easy parking, which is a real bonus after a long day. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect – some have had mixed experiences where the food's a bit too heavy on the spice, making it feel unbalanced or even overdone, and there have been a few grumbles about service starting off on the wrong foot. Still, with an overall solid rating, I'd say it's worth a try if you're up for adventurous flavours, just maybe go in with an open mind and perhaps ask for milder options if that's your thing. All in all, it's a friendly local haunt that does a lot right, but like any spot, it has its off days.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food's got that authentic Indian and Nepalese flair, with dishes like the mixed grill and crispy wings that really hit the spot and leave you wanting more.
-
It's reasonably priced, making it a great choice for a casual night out without breaking the bank.
-
The atmosphere is lovely – plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, plus a massive car park, so it's easy to pop in and relax.
-
Service is generally quick, and the bar staff can be really helpful once you're sorted.
-
From what I've heard, they're flexible with the menu, so if you've got a special request, they might just whip it up for you.
Cons
-
It can be a bit hit and miss with the flavours – some reviews mention the food being over-spiced and lacking balance, which might put off those who prefer milder tastes.
-
Service isn't always spot on; a few folks have felt ignored when they first arrive, which isn't the best welcome.
-
While it's generally decent, a couple of regulars have said it's gone downhill lately, with dishes not living up to past standards.
-
The spice levels can overwhelm the actual taste, turning what could be a favourite into a disappointing meal for some.

Food was overall decent, very desi taste to it, it can be a hit and miss, does the basics relatively well, Krispy prawns mid, vibe and atmosphere is nice, decently priced, quick service
Overpriced and over-spiced.
The food lacked any real flavour—just an overwhelming amount of spice with no balance. This place used to be one of my favourite spots for a good mixed grill, but sadly, it’s gone downhill. What was once a go-to is now one of the worst mixed grills I’ve had in a long time.
I have had this awesome pub on my radar for a while and finally had the chance to visit.
We walked in via the back entrance a little lost to be honest and was ignored by members of staff to which we then went to the bar - not a great start.
The bar staff were really kind and helpful, we ordered some drinks and then mentioned we would like food and then made our way to a table of our choosing.
We looked at menus for around 15 mins and was hoping a staff member would come over to ask us for our order. I saw a member of staff a young man and asked him if he could take our order.
He nooded and then walked off...10 mins later a lady came and took our order - before the point about being busy is made it was not busy at all....
The starters were nice and we got a mixed grill with 2 sides of chilly chips which were great.
We wrapped up and a staff member asked if we would like the main course which was then served.
The main food which was Desi murgh and Butter chicken which were honestly not tasty at all. I know my desi food and I'm afraid it just did not taste fresh or as great as I expected.
Overall food taste and portions need improvement especially the portion size of the butter chicken which was in a small size dish and for £10 is honestly a joke...
As for the staff hit and miss but the customer service here needs huge improvement!
I have been to many other desi pubs in the area and can say honestly this visit was not a highly rated one for me personally.
The establishment offers a delightful ambiance, complemented by exceptional culinary offerings that tantalize the taste buds with their exquisite flavors. Furthermore, the establishment's pricing structure is quite reasonable, making it an attractive option for those seeking a memorable dining experience.
I visited here today after many years and wow it has changed,There’s a massive car park now lots of extra seating indoors and outside. The mixed group was amazing, just like it used to be. I loved the crispy wings. the curries were delicious and a nan breads were nice and soft. I will definitely be visiting again.
