About This Pub

Oh, you know, the Chestnut Tree in Wednesbury is one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away near the retail park off the M6 – easy to pop into after a spot of shopping. I have to say, the staff really make the place; they're so attentive and cheerful, like that server Donna who's always on hand to lend a help with carrying plates or making sure the little ones are sorted. The carvery is an absolute winner if you're in the mood for a traditional roast – it's generous and flavoursome, with plenty of sides to pile on – but do get there before 8pm, as that's when it wraps up, and you don't want to miss it. They've got loads of other options too, from pub favourites to veggie choices, and it's brilliant for families or if you've got the dog with you; everyone seems to feel right at home. On the flip side, some dishes might not always be on the menu, like that vegan curry, and the car park can get a tad crowded, so it's worth planning ahead. All in all, it's a solid spot for a relaxed meal or catch-up with mates, with that cosy vibe that keeps you coming back, even if it's not the fanciest place around.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and helpful, like Donna who goes the extra mile to make sure everyone feels welcome, especially with families or elderly folk.
  • The food is spot on, with a cracking carvery that's great value and packed with tasty roasts, veg, and all the trimmings – perfect for a hearty meal.
  • It's super family-friendly and dog-friendly too, so you can bring the kids and the furry friend along without any fuss, making it a welcoming spot for all.
  • The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed, with clean facilities and a nice outdoor beer garden where you can enjoy a drink in the fresh air.
  • They've got a good range of pub classics and options for different tastes, including veggie dishes, which makes it easy to find something everyone likes.
Cons
  • The carvery finishes quite early at 8pm, so if you're running late, you might miss out and have to settle for other menu items.
  • Some specials like the vegan curry aren't always available, which could be disappointing if you're after something specific.
  • The car park is a bit on the small side, so parking might be tricky during busy times, especially in a retail park location.
  • It's generally open late, but with typical closing at 11pm, it might not suit those wanting a late-night hangout spot.

We took my family for a birthday treat and had a lovely meal. Donna was very helpful. We had 3 elderly people with us and Donna helped them carry their carvery’s back to the table. 🤗

The staff here were so friendly, coupled with a dog friendly pub makes a great find. I couldn't comment on the carvery as we just missed it, it finishes at 8pm, got there at 820pm. We had the veggie chilli and that was great. My first choice was that the vegan curry wasn't available, so I may go back to try it. I wished they did cola refills like Toby Carvery

Toilets were clean, fresh, with music and hand driers from the 70's but they were highly polished. Would eat here again, nice atmosphere, small car park. Revisited, and pleased to report, food was excellent, atmosphere was quiet, parking was easy, toilets still up to mark, outside garden areas smart tidy and pleasing to look at before you enter pub. Polite staff, no Pepsi refills. I can put up with that, only moan would be it was quiet poorly lit , would be nice to see your food as you eat it. Will visit again soon. Standby for an update. Revisited, and all is good, chairs are dirty appearance, carpet typical pub chain pattern, food good, drinks cold, all the lights were on and not too busy so plenty of tables to chose from, ie. Window seats, easy to park, friendly staff. Also veteran's remembrance flag reminder to donate if you can. Recommend drink and food stop.
